SC-S29/W3- Nostalgia Of The Liitle Me : Childhood Food Memories
Assalamu Alaikum,
First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to @sohanurrahman bhai, the organizer of this beautiful and emotional competition. Thank you very much for creating such a wonderful opportunity to relive the taste of childhood food and the lost days. This event reminds us that ordinary memories are actually the most valuable assets in life. I feel really lucky to be able to participate in this beautiful competition.
Childhood Food Memories |
|---|
Food is not just about satisfying hunger, food tells the story of our lives. Whenever I think of my childhood, the first thing that comes to mind is some familiar smells from the courtyard and kitchen of our small village house. Those smells were the safest refuge of my childhood. My favorite childhood foods were rice, dal, potato stew and fried dry chilies. Although the foods were very simple, their importance to me was infinite. Because every piece of this food was associated with the love, care and unconditional affection of my mother.
My mother usually cooked these dishes with her own hands. Boiling potatoes with lentils in an earthen stove and making them into a stew with mustard oil was a kind of silent expression of love. I didn't understand it then, but now I understand that this was the safest time of my life. We usually ate this dish at noon in our village house. Sometimes sitting in the yard, sometimes inside the house, there was a peaceful environment around, the chirping of birds and the loving presence of my mother. There was no pressure in life then, there was only the joy of the present moment.
Today, when I think of this dish, many feelings arise in my heart. Maya, love and a kind of soft pain. Although this food is still a part of my life, the people, environment and feelings of that time are no longer there. So the taste is no longer the same. This memory has taught me that happiness is actually very simple, with little food and the love of loved ones. Today, when I cook for my children, I try to convey that love through food, which my mother once gave me.
What childhood food or dish do you still remember clearly, and why is it special to you? |
|---|
I remember rice, dal, potato, and fried dry chili most clearly. This food is special to me because it is associated with my mother's love, childhood security, and memories of a simple life.
Who usually prepared this food for you, and how did it make you feel at that time? |
|---|
My mother usually prepared these foods for you. At that time, I felt very safe, loved, and cared for as a child.
When and where did you usually eat it (home, school, village, special occasions)? |
|---|
I usually ate these foods at noon at our house in the village.
What emotions come back when you think about the taste, smell, or moment? |
|---|
When you think about the taste and smell of food, a kind of soft pain of nostalgia, illusion, love, gratitude comes back.
Is this food still part of your life today, or does it remain only as a memory? |
|---|
This food is still part of my life, but it doesn't have the same taste and feeling as before. It is now a precious memory mixed with reality.
Last words |
|---|
Childhood food memories are actually the roots of our lives. Time changes, life changes, but these memories remain forever in the depths of the heart. These memories are our spark, when love is in our heart, anything ordinary becomes extraordinary. I am truly grateful to be able to touch the days of childhood again through this beautiful event. I hope this writing of mine will take you back to some corner of your own childhood.
Finally, I cordially invite my three dear friends to participate in this beautiful competition,

Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
You have beautifully shared your childhood memories of traditional foods like rice, dal, mashed potatoes, and dry chili with deep emotion and touching words. The connection between these foods, your mother’s love, and village life is very well expressed.
However, the post would have been even better if you had used proper markdown formatting and added some recipe steps. That would make the presentation more attractive and complete. It would be better if you answered the questions in a little more detail.
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
