Inside a Sports Shop: Badminton Racket Stringing Process
Today I’m going to share how a badminton racket is strung based on a real experience. Yesterday, I went to Saidpur with my friend, where he got two of his rackets restrung at a local sports shop.
Badminton stringing is a time-consuming and precise process. First, the string is manually woven through the racket frame. This step requires patience and accuracy to ensure the pattern is correct. After that, a stringing machine is used to pull the strings to a specific tension, which is very important for performance.
At the shop we visited, there were two workers. One person handled the manual part, carefully setting the strings into the racket, while the other operated the machine to tighten them. The manual setup alone took around 10 minutes for each racket. In total, including both hand work and machine tensioning, it took about 30 minutes to fully string one racket.
My friend chose two different types of strings for his rackets. One of them was Yonex BG65 Titanium badminton string, which is known for its durability and solid hitting feel. The other was a different type of string, one in white color and the other in black. Both strings were of good quality and suitable for regular play.
The total cost for stringing two rackets was 250 BDT, which is approximately around $2.00 USD. After the stringing was completed, both rackets looked fresh and attractive. More importantly, properly strung rackets can greatly improve control and power during the game, making the effort and time completely worthwhile.
