SC-S29/W1- Nostalgia Of The Liitle Me : Games we used to play
I think those of my generation are the last ones who had fun exclusively with traditional games before technology took over. Very few children now enjoy outdoor games; they are glued to their tablets or mobile phones. I remember that in my day, my mother let us play with the neighbours from 5 to 7 in the afternoon.
Some neighbours would call me to play, and other times I would call them. We were a large group, and sometimes only the girls would play, but there were games in which the boys participated, even though they were Russian.
My childhood games
PISE
This game was only for girls and consisted of making a kind of robot that you had to cross if there was only one square with one foot; if there were two squares, you could use both feet. You couldn't step on the edges and had to keep your balance and be very quick because otherwise you lost the game.
I remember drawing it on the ground if I couldn't find charcoal or chalk, and we played it on the pavements so that it wouldn't get erased quickly.
STOP:
In this game, we boys and girls would first draw lots with pieces of paper. Whoever got the word 'stop' had to throw the ball into the air. When someone caught it, they had to shout 'stop' so that everyone who was running would stop, and then throw the ball to the nearest other child.
If they couldn't hit another child, the ball was passed on, but if they couldn't hit anyone, they lost. Hahaha, those were the days.
We also played with rifles, ropes, spinning tops, and sold little games in the shop called pin pon. These were games I played with my neighbours, but the fun didn't end there. At home with my brothers, we had games such as:
LA VIEJA:
This consisted of a sheet of paper, usually from a notebook, on which we drew a #. The person who got three Xs or zeros in a row won. It wasn't that easy to win; you had to wait for your opponent to make a mistake, ha ha ha.
STOP:
At home we also played another game called Stop, but this one consisted of writing down your first name, last name, things, fruits, animals, city, country, tree in a notebook. Then we chose letters of the alphabet and had to fill in the table. Each column is worth 100 points. The first person to fill it in shouts "stop" and no one else can write anymore. Then we added up the points to find out who won.
It wasn't that easy because we were going so fast that we often forgot even the names, ha ha ha. It was a lot of fun, and there was always someone saying there was cheating, ha ha ha.
Our generation didn't know about social media. The most we heard about was Nintendo, but not all children had access to these games, so traditional games were a lot of fun. I remember in winter we would go out to play in the rain, running and shouting. Those were the days, which many children today don't know about.
All these games were played in groups at that time, which meant more interaction. They taught you to share and also to defend yourself, ha ha ha, because there was always someone who wanted to win by cheating, ha ha ha,I didn't like playing Fusilado because, if you lost, all the children had to throw a ball at you, and the boys threw really hard, so more than one ended up crying, ha ha ha, But we never get angry, even if we have fought.

It's amazing how you remember all these games. Guess social media has cleared everything off my mind. I can remember only stops. Although we had a local name which I can't remember now. But I think @jasminemary, @mkponke-ouwa or @yhudy can help me.
Can you remember how this game is called. The one where you mention the name of places, fruits, , etc. that full under a particular alphabet. Biko, elp a sister.
Honestly, I miss my childhood days. But I didn't have too much fun playing. I remember when it was just football, cards, ludo, hide and seek, spellings, and faking to be a family.
To explore other things was not really an option because of my training then; strict like there was no tomorrow.😂
I can relate to this as well. Grew up in a strict family. And I played a lot of faking to be a family. My mother's pots and tomato tins suffered that time eh. 🤣
I think you're referring to Scattergories game. They're a lot of games that we play during our childhood which I hardly see children playing them nowadays.
Exactly!
But I feel like the correct generation might have some games popular amongst them that they either create or adapted.
Thank you for bringing the name of the game back to my notice.
Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
You have given a beautiful description of childhood games, and the photos were lovely as well. I also played the LA VIEJA game during my childhood. It was fun to play. The games you described are interesting, and none of them require expensive equipment. These games are truly priceless and bring pure joy.
Greetings, friend. Thank you for checking in. Truthfully, in my day, it doesn't take much to have fun.
Blessings 🫂
Todos esos juegos eran tan bonitos y llenos de mucha imaginación.
