Butterfly effect - how small things can change our entire life
Have you ever wondered how small things affects our life?
Everyone has heard about butterfly effect. But it's real. Just think about it, everyone remembers a thing that had huge impact on our lives. Not in sci-fi way, just less spectacular, but it happens every time we're doing something new.
Lately I was thinking about how I learned to play guitar
It all started when I was 16. I don't remember why I wanted to play guitar, but I'm sure, it was just a trivial reason. Maybe I've heard a great song, maybe a friend of mine was playing guitar and I just wanted to be like him. Play ballads on the camps and pick up girls :)
But the reality wasn't the way I wished, and first pains and disappointments came with my first brand-new guitar from online shop.
That was the cheapest, the worst guitar available, according to the topics on online forums. Everyone who knows something about guitars knows that cheapest guitars are not the real guitars. But i didn't knew. I just wanted to rock!
So the 50$ instrument came, I unpacked it and wanted to finally play something. But it didn't work! The guitar was broken. No matter how much I tried - the sounds that came from this stupid broken guitar wasn't even close to the music! I remember one moment very clearly. After couple of weeks of trying I was really sure I can play one song. I called my mom. She came to my room and I "played" her this song. I was looking at her, full of hope, but she just said: "That's not how this song goes", and she gone back to her room. I was totally disappointed.
The most important thing in butterfly effect - when the wheel starts to roll - don't stop it!
Even if this wheel is rolling very, very slowly.
My wheel was my guitar. Buying guitar was very important, but there was another thing that had influence in this particular butterfly effect. I didn't sell it. I don't want to say - don't give up. I'm pretty sure that I gave up on it. I was sure, that I'm not one of these genius talented musicians. And that was OK for me. But I didn't sell my guitar. I knew that no one will buy cheapest, used and probably broken guitar. Instead, I just put the guitar next to my desk, where I was sitting most of the time. And then real magic came. Every time I was bored, every time I was waiting when computer game was loading, every time I was lying on my bed without the reason, I was getting my guitar and starting to play random sounds. Funny thing is that then I didn't want to learn how to play. I was just bored.
And then butterfly will finally arrive. Sooner or later
Day after day, month after month, year after year I spent my micro-times of my life when I was home like this. It wasn't like in a motivational movies, when young karate adept trains hard ten hours a day and become master. It was involuntarily. And that is amazing! I started to learn basic chords, basic songs, discover more and more new sounds of guitar. It took me years. But the most amazing thing is that I can play guitar, because I put it next to my desk! Not in the attic, not in guitar case, just close to me. I would be probably a different person, if I hadn't done this.
Now, about ten years after that I was with my girlfriend at the wedding party. Wedding was great, but the end was rapidly coming. The orchestra stopped playing, people were just sitting, and talking. And then a friend of mine came with electric guitar. There were some people, who can play, but when guitar came to me, the party started again! Couple minutes later I was sitting at the center of wedding hall, playing and singing well known songs, and everybody around me was listening and singing. For me that was a magical moment. I know, that for most of people that's not a big deal, but in my eyes, in this particular moment I was a rock star! Just because I put my guitar near my desk ten years ago! Hell yeah, butterflies are beautiful!
Conclusion
If you really want something, if you have a dream deep inside your head, and you're afraid of amount of work you have to do to achieve this, or just naturally afraid of failure - don't worry. Just make first step, push the wheel. Little butterflies will do the work, but you have to push it smart. Seriously, look around, find the thing that will probably change your life in next ten, twenty, thirty years and take the first step. Do many new things. You never know which butterfly will change your whole live.

Nice post man :)
I love this concept. I recently decided I wanted to drop some weight I had put on during a season of grieving my [young!] late husband. And, at the same time I'm writing my third novel. So I put myself on a diet and a writing schedule. I was very pleased when I realized that if I am diligent in the day in and day out, I will have reached both goals by October! Cheers to the butterfly effect!
Your doing really well, I enjoyed reading that I too tried the guitar when I was growing up but I gave up, well done you for persevering with it and winning
Thanks. I also gave up, but destiny was stronger :)
Now all that hard work was worth it. Video yourself playing and use it in a post
I'm planning, but first I have to buy decent microphone.
