Chawala: A Unique Hot Drink Stand Experience

I recently visited a hot drink stand category called Chawala. It is a specialized drink stand where they exclusively sell various variants of tea. They serve hot tea to customers, prepared instantly and cooked to match their preferred taste. They offer a wide variety of teas, many of which were completely new to me.

The Chawala stand was started by two young entrepreneurs who are managing their business quite effectively. It is located in the Chattogram Finely Square Shopping Mall area, right in front of the lower section near Gate No. 2. Being in a market area, it attracts a massive crowd of customers. They primarily provide their services from the evening onwards.

The stand is small in size and does not have any extravagant interior design. It is a steel structure with a front door that folds open to serve as the service counter. The two entrepreneurs stay inside along with all the necessary cooking equipment.

There is no decoration inside the stand; there are just a few lights set up to facilitate their business operations at night. Both entrepreneurs are very fast and were able to operate everything efficiently from within the small space.

Now, let's talk about their menu. Just because they only sell tea doesn't mean they can't have a diverse menu. I was personally surprised to see their offerings. The entire menu was filled with various types of tea variants. I discovered some tea names for the first time in my life just by looking at their menu. The best part is that every variant is prepared fresh and served instantly.

I ordered a Lemon-Mint Tea. In our country, this is typically called Liquor Tea. They have created a new variety by adding certain spices and mint to this liquor tea. I really liked this unique idea. To be an entrepreneur, what you truly need is an idea, courage, and hard work. With these qualities, one can start a business even within a small structure like Chawala.

I found the taste of the tea to be excellent. By adding mint, it also gained some added health benefits. To order tea from them, you have to pay in advance, and they only accept cash payments.

Within 2–3 minutes of ordering, the hot tea is in the customer's hands. There are no separate seating arrangements, so you have to drink it while standing. Considering all these factors, it is possible to get the best tea here.

✓ What is your favorite hot drink and how often do you consume it?

Tea is my favorite hot drink. Although I like coffee, it isn't always within reach. Since making tea is easy and can be prepared quickly whenever desired, it remains my favorite. Among teas, I prefer the herbal variants the most.

I usually drink a maximum of one to two cups of tea per day. A cup of tea after waking up in the morning keeps me quite refreshed. Another cup in the late afternoon or evening re-energizes my body and mind. These two cups are enough for my day, as drinking too much tea isn't advisable.

✓ Do you like to accompany your drink with some special food or do you prefer to enjoy it alone?

As a companion to tea, I prefer Paratha. A combination of hot paratha with tea is truly wonderful. Some parathas are fried in ghee; when tasted with tea, they are delicious. Occasionally, cookies also make for a good combination with tea.
