Michelle Obama, a name as widely known as her husband Barack Obama.Michelle is widely known as the first lady of the United States of America. President Obama along with Michelle Obama and their two daughters resided in the white house for two terms. When Obama was first elected as the president of the United States of America, what he brought with him was the promise of CHANGE. This became his claim to fame, as the country along with the whole world was demanding a change, a smooth transition to a better tomorrow. What did set him apart from all the other presidents was the fact that he was the first black president but another thing which made him truly invincible was Michelle. The famous proverb that states that having a strong woman behind a successful man just sets true in Obama and Michelle’s example. Michelle is a lawyer, philanthropist, activist and a first lady. Having these many feathers in ones cap denotes of the grandeur that Michelle has. She is one remarkable lady. A little insight into what Michelle has been through years in as under.
Michelle Lavaughn Robinson was born in January 1964, in Chicago, Illinois. Michelle was born and raised in a close knit family where her father, mother, she and her brother were deeply connected. The both sibling were raised on a strong foundation which hugely laid emphasis on education. This resulted in her being the gifted student at school which was recognized by her teachers and made her skip second grade. She was transferred to her schools gifted program. She learnt advanced biology and French. In 1981 Michelle graduated from her magnet high school, which was specially designated to tend to gifted children.
Just like her brother she attended college at Princeton and graduated as cum laude in 1985. She graduated in sociology. After Princeton she attended Harvard law school. After attending Harvard, one of the best and most reputed law schools, Michelle started working. She started her law career as working as an associate in the SIDLEY AUSTINS, Chicago branch. This is the fateful place where she met Obama her future husband. Obama was working as a summer intern at SIDLEY AUSTIN, where Michelle was appointed as an adviser to him. In 1991 Michelle left the corporate law and started working for public office. She worked for Mayor Richard Daley and as an assistant commissioner of planning and development for the city of Chicago. In public office Michelle found her true calling of helping others, where she was assigned the post of executive director of the public allies’ .This was a nonprofit leadership training program which helped young adults with a future in public sector
In 1996 Michelle joined the University of Chicago as dean of student services. There she developed for the first time a community service program. In 2005 Michelle started working as vice president of community and external affairs at Chicago medical center where she worked part time until Barack Obamas inauguration as president.
Michelle and Barak started dating in SIDLEY AUSTIN. This is where at first she refused on the basis of keeping personal and private relations apart. The couple married in 1992. After the elections of United States senate, the Obama family continued to live in Chicago and Obama moved to Washington. Throughout her husband’s busy political career that made a commitment to be together as a family as much as they can. Their relationships like other relationships have faced ups and downs, the stress of starting a political life and a growing family strained the marriage occasionally but both Obama and Michelle worked hard to keep things as pleasant as ever. As first lady of the United States of America Michelle headed many initiatives like advocating on behalf of military families, helping women create work life balance. She has always encouraged and supported art and art schools all over the world not just the United States. Michelle was often criticized for the rolls she was playing and the causes she was supporting as a first lady. She was targeted of being what she was not. She was accused of acting “white” while she supported gardening and healthy eating. She was helping America change the eating habits, which are highly unhealthy and lead to health crises. Michelle started the organic market movement in which her predecessors like Hillary Clinton and Laura bushes supported her. To strengthen the campaign and to being a role model, Michelle made the first kitchen garden in the white house. She also started the wide ranged initiative named “let’s move” to combat childhood obesity. Many at times Michelle with rather bold campaigns like the one of bring back the kidnapped girls in Nigeria.
Michelle story might not be a story which started from humble background, she always had the best education and her parents were always very supportive of her being independent. She had the best education from prestigious schools of the world.
