When does sunburn require medical attention?

Sunburn, which causes redness, pain in the skin and a feeling of heat when touched, usually occurs within a few hours of excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, or industrial sources, such as solar lights. Sunburn may take several days or Longer than that until fade.

You should consult your doctor to treat your sunburn if:

  • Sunburn was sharp, blisters and covered a large part of your body.
  • Sunburn was accompanied by high fever or severe pain.
  • I contracted a skin infection due to the scrape of skin exposed to sunburn.
  • I was suffering from severe sunburn and did not see any improvement in a few days
    Your doctor may suggest corticosteroid cream for sunburn, or a short course of prednisone for acute cases, including burns in large parts of the body. Rarely, people with severe sunburn may need venous fluids to fight the drought.

In most cases, sunburn can be treated at home by:

  • Cool compresses.
  • Over-the-counter pain medications, such as ibuprofen (Advil, and Mutrin IP).
    Antihistamines, such as diphhenhydramine (benadril).
  • Generation or cactus lotion.
  • Moisturizing .. drink plenty of fluids.
