I tested 4 survey sites back to back — only one let me cash out same day
The problem I wanted to solve:
I hear people say "surveys are a waste of time" and I also hear people say "I make $50 a week on surveys." Both can't be true. So I decided to test four of the biggest survey sites on the same day, same hour, same effort level.
I wanted to know one thing: Which one actually pays you without making you want to throw your phone?
The setup
I spent one hour on each platform. Same afternoon. Same rule: start a survey, if disqualified immediately start the next one. No breaks.
Here's what happened.
Swagbucks (1 hour)
· First survey: 12 minutes about soda brands. Completed. Earned $0.65
· Second survey: 4 minutes in, disqualified. Earned $0
· Third survey: 7 minutes about streaming services. Completed. Earned $0.50
· The rest of the hour: 6 more disqualifications, one partial credit for $0.05
Total after 1 hour: $1.20
Annoyance level: High. Popups everywhere. Felt like a casino game, not a money app.
Could I cash out? No. Minimum is $5 but even then it takes 3–5 days.
InboxDollars (1 hour)
· First survey: 8 minutes about pet food. Completed. Earned $0.75
· Second survey: 3 minutes in, disqualified
· Third survey: 11 minutes about banking. Completed. Earned $0.60
· Fourth survey: 6 minutes. Completed. Earned $0.40
· The rest of the hour: 7 disqualifications
Total after 1 hour: $1.75
Annoyance level: Medium. Cleaner than Swagbucks but still slow to load each survey.
Could I cash out? No. Minimum is $15. Would take me about 9 more hours to get there.
Survey Junkie (1 hour)
· First survey: 5 minutes about toothpaste. Completed. Earned $0.80
· Second survey: 8 minutes about fast food. Completed. Earned $1.00
· Third survey: 4 minutes in, disqualified
· Fourth survey: 7 minutes about car insurance. Completed. Earned $1.20
· Fifth survey: 4 minutes. Completed. Earned $0.50
· The rest of the hour: 4 disqualifications
Total after 1 hour: $3.50
Annoyance level: Low. Fewer disqualifications. Clear progress bar on every survey.
Could I cash out? ✅ YES. Minimum is $5. I was at $3.50 after one hour. One more hour and I cash out same day via PayPal.
PrizeRebel (1 hour)
· First survey: 10 minutes about coffee. Completed. Earned $0.60
· Second survey: 6 minutes in, disqualified
· Third survey: 12 minutes about clothing. Completed. Earned $0.55
· Fourth survey: 2 minutes in, disqualified
· The rest of the hour: 6 disqualifications, one partial credit for $0.10
Total after 1 hour: $1.25
Annoyance level: Medium. Too many "router surveys" — where it bounces you between different survey companies without warning.
Could I cash out? No. Minimum is $10. Would take about 8 hours.
The winner (ranked from best to worst)
1st place: Survey Junkie — $3.50 in one hour. Lowest disqualification rate. Fastest cashout.
2nd place: InboxDollars — $1.75 in one hour. Clean interface. But $15 minimum is too high.
3rd place: PrizeRebel — $1.25 in one hour. Router surveys are annoying.
4th place: Swagbucks — $1.20 in one hour. Too many popups. Feels like a waste of time.
The one thing I learned (that nobody told me)
Survey Junkie paid more because it disqualified me less often.
Why? Because before every survey, it asks 2–3 qualifying questions before sending you to the actual survey. The other sites send you straight to the survey, then disqualify you after you've already spent 4 minutes answering questions.
The tip: If a survey site doesn't ask qualifying questions upfront, close it. They're stealing your time.
Also — Survey Junkie let me cash out at $5 via PayPal instantly. The others made me wait 3–7 days or required $15–$20 minimums.
What I'm keeping and what I'm deleting
✅ Keep: Survey Junkie (only for downtime — bus, waiting in line, lunch break)
❌ Delete: Swagbucks (too noisy, too many popups)
⚠️ Maybe keep: InboxDollars (only for the paid emails section, not surveys)
❌ Delete: PrizeRebel (router surveys are exhausting)
Your vote (this is where you help me)
I'm testing receipt scanning apps tomorrow. Which one should I start with?
Comment with a number:
1 for Ibotta
2 for Fetch
3 for Receipt Hog
4 for "surprise me, test the weirdest one"
The most voted one wins. I'll post the results the next day.
