The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) Testnet has reached a significant milestone in its development journey. Sherpa Protocol is now fully deployed and operational on the SVM Testnet, and a comprehensive Blockscout block explorer for SVM has been launched simultaneously.

With this development, SVM has transitioned from foundational EVM infrastructure into a more functional experimental DeFi environment.

Sherpa Protocol is Now Live

Sherpa Protocol has been successfully deployed on the SVM Testnet.

Chain ID: "8163"

The deployment includes:

  • SHERPA governance token
  • sUSD
  • wSTEEM
  • SherpaOracle
  • VaultManager
  • LendingPool
  • Governor
  • Timelock
  • Other protocol contracts

A total of 28 smart contracts have been deployed on the SVM Testnet, and notably, all 28 have been fully verified.

This allows developers to directly view and verify contract source code and test various smart contract interactions on the testnet.

Key Smart Contracts

Contract | Address
SHERPA | "0x6Ec2765CAD95D591b146be8cf3B761b46Cf1e9B4"
sUSD | "0x3052b03972d64cB55C472795Cb821290a5E9A951"
wSTEEM | "0xd5aB7043904eFC4A196bC8B1599d515b15C910C9"
SherpaOracle | "0x9bbDe1388aBe9543ebea557739B107518dd29e0F"
VaultManager | "0x7Bc7c50117A3b565dCE68B984e5A519bC9Fe8A1d"
LendingPool | "0x227C79eBEE10Ac465f186f0868682181C379D58D"

The full contract addresses for the Governor and Timelock can be found on the Blockscout explorer.

SVM Blockscout Explorer

A dedicated Blockscout explorer has been launched for the SVM ecosystem:

evmscan.steemscanner.com

This explorer offers several key benefits for developers:

  • Source code verification for 28 Sherpa Protocol contracts
  • Ability to view verified contract code
  • Real-time transaction tracking
  • EVM execution logs
  • Transaction tracing
  • Monitoring of contract interactions
  • A familiar explorer interface common to Ethereum-compatible ecosystems

This marks a significant step in enhancing SVM's developer tooling and transparency.

Network Health and Stability

The SVM Testnet remained stable even during the deployment of the 28 Sherpa Protocol contracts.

Current network performance:

Metric | Status
Average Block Time | ~5.3 seconds
Active Validators | 11 / 12
Validator Uptime | 100%
Consensus Interruptions | None

The network continued operations without any consensus interruptions, even amidst contract deployments and increased oracle activity.

This serves as a crucial validation of the stability of SVM's underlying infrastructure.

New Opportunities for Developers

The SVM testnet sandbox is now open to developers.

Developers can now experimentally:

  • Interact with the LendingPool
  • Test the wSTEEM wrap/unwrap mechanism
  • Integrate SherpaOracle price feeds
  • Test smart contract interactions
  • Conduct liquidity pool testing
  • Integrate Sherpa Protocol with their own test dApps

All interactions will currently take place within the testnet environment.

Role of Validators

SherpaOracle is now receiving price data from validator-operated oracle clients.

Consequently, the responsibilities of validators have become increasingly important.

They must ensure:

  • Node monitoring
  • Oracle client monitoring
  • Synchronization
  • Consensus participation
  • Accurate oracle data submission Oracle infrastructure will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and reliability of the Sherpa Protocol's DeFi layer.

A New Phase in SVM Development

SVM development has now entered a new phase:

Stable Infrastructure
→ Oracle Reliability
→ Sherpa Protocol Deployment
→ 28 Verified Smart Contracts
→ Blockscout Explorer
→ Developer Testing
→ DeFi Ecosystem

This has created opportunities to experimentally engage with trading, lending, liquidity, and other DeFi functionalities on the SVM Testnet.

What comes next?

The primary focus moving forward will be:

  1. Monitoring smart contract interactions
  2. Developer testing
  3. Liquidity pool testing
  4. wSTEEM wrap/unwrap testing
  5. SherpaOracle price feed integration
  6. Network performance monitoring
  7. Gathering feedback from contract interactions
  8. Protocol refinement as needed

Testnet Disclaimer

«Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is strictly in its testnet phase. All bonded STEEM, transactions executed, and tokens generated are purely for testing the consensus and EVM execution layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.»

In short, the SVM infrastructure is not only ready; the testing phase for the Sherpa Protocol ecosystem built upon it has officially begun.
