YOLO #006: Pension de San Juanico • Tacloban City, Leyte
Hello foodies and travellers!
Welcome to my 6th YOLO post featuring Tacloban City's Pension de San Juanico. Its been 24 days since my last travel blog. I've been wanting to post atleast once a week on this account but I kept failing. What is wrong with me? Haha.
Its 7:53AM here in the Philippines, and I'm still in bed, savouring my rest day because tomorrow is Monday again. I still have some free time, so I'm writing this post right now
Pension de San Juanico is about 20-30 minutes from the Downtown area of Tacloban City.
If you're coming from Tacloban, the place is on the left side. They don't have a huge sign board yet, so its kinda hard to locate the place. Especially, if you're like us who didn't research first before coming here. Hahaha. It wasn't actually our plan to drop by, but since we had so much time left after crossing the San Juanico Bridge, we decided to grab some snacks here.
The jeepney driver or the konduktor were not very reliable since they're not really sure where the place was located. So we just took our chances and asked if he could drop us off few minutes after the San Juanico bridge and we'll just explore the place. As soon as we get off the jeep, we asked a local nearby if she knows the place, sadly she has no idea as well. (😢) So I got little worried if we are on the right location or if the place does even exist. Haha. Good thing, just about 57 more steps (binilang ko. Charot!) from our drop off point, there she is..
We went inside and the place was so quiet. It was just me and my friends plus the staff. We head directly to the counter for our orders.
Prices are not so expensive. Aside from snacks and their famous Freak Shakes Overload, they also serve rice meals and short orders.
Since we are the only customer that time, I was able to take some photos without photo bombers.
While we were still waiting for our food, my friends went to grab some of these and tried discover how to play them. Haha
As for me, just like what I usually do, I went around and took some photos. Here are the minor details of the place that I find really cute.
By the way, as I was doing my research earlier, the place also has room accommodations. There are few reviews I saw in Trip Advisor. Should you decide to choose check in here, please know that the place is too far from the city proper and commuting is a bit difficult.
After few minutes of waiting, our Freaky Shakes Overload was served.
Look how photogenic they are, sooo Steemit worthy! Don't you just want to try one of these sweet treats.
Chimera Cookies
Creepy Forest
Dramatic Dutch
I had Dramatic Dutch, because I love marshmallows and I'm so dramatic. Haha.
These mouthwatering Freaky Shakes Overload is only at 119 Php or about 2USD (and few cents). If you're like me who can't stand too much "sweetness" in food (or in general), they have fries and kropek which is a perfect combination for me.

Freaky Shakes Overload: ☆☆☆
Presentation was really good. The price was reasonable. But I'm giving it a 3 star rating because it was too sweet for me, that I really needed something to combat the taste. I love the marshmallows, though. Perhaps, adding options on the sweetness level of the shake is a nice idea to consider.
Place: ☆☆☆☆
Overall look was lovely. It was clean. The design was creative. Though it was a bit warm because there was no AC, they have fans in case the fresh air from outside won't suffice. Also, some good music could spice up the ambiance of the place.
Service: ☆☆☆
Some food/drinks are also not available. We needed something salty and the only available was Kropek, glad it somehow complemented the freak shakes. The staff weren't rude but they're also not as accommodating and as friendly as they should be. I hope they would be a little nicer and extra sweet just like their freak shakes overload. =)
I'll end this post now because the photos made me so hungry already. Enjoy the rest of the day guys!
Cheers to more travels (and foodtrips)! ♡
