RE: Universal Basic Income: Some of what you need to know.

honestly, i didn't read your comment all the way through, but i thought i would give a couple of my views on UBI. first you can't change character flaws, an addict will blow any UBI he gets in a few days. secondly we kind of have a UBI already, it's called the MINIMUM WAGE(probably should be raised), it does require you to WORK. even though not perfect the current system where one applies for food stamps(some card now, i'm not up with it) or vouchers for housing, etc. may be the best approach, especially if we could figure out a way to cut all the RED TAPE and OVERHEAD(government employment, pensions, etc.) and get these needs DIRECTLY into the hands of those in need. probably incremental improvements will be made(hopefully) over the decades and a century from now we can eliminate poverty. probably wishful thinking, unfortunately.

Sort:

minimum wage only serves to deny people work who don't produce sufficient value. Minimum wages creates poverty through incentivizing automation and eliminating jobs that are not profitable at minimum wage.
