Dazhdbog (oil on canvas 130 x 185 cm)
Dazhdbog was one of the major gods of Slavic mythology, most likely a solar deity and possibly a cultural hero. He is one of several authentic Slavic gods, mentioned by a number of medieval manuscripts, and one of the few Slavic gods for which evidence of worship can be found in all Slavic nations.
He was the god of the Sun and his embodiment. He was also associated with the underworld, wolves and forensic craftsmanship, and according to Veselin Čajkanović claim, he was the supreme god of the Serbian people.

reminds me of the saying 'a wolf in sheep clothing', his fur is really wooley!
also, gods are and have always been overrated.. i'd prefer your dog buda , it's cute hehe :)
Good observation, thank you! :)
Lovely piece, @montiljo ! you really captured that canine body language with the way Dazhdbog turned his wolfish head towards the audience :>
love the detailing on his fur and on the tee's barks.
your canvases are always so lovely to look at and i love your doggo, buda XD <3
I am glad you like that work and that you notice that details. Thank you!

btw, i love the details, though i'm curious about full amount of texture in the head?. I don't know it just look unnatural, like some kind of curse :o
Thank you! It is something that I paint unconsciously. :)
Oh I'm in love with this painting @montiljo! Dogs are amazing but you've somehow captured personality with this guy :) Thank you so much for sharing !
