What is Sense Chat?

• Sense is a decentralized text and video chat client for your mobile device, akin to WhatsApp messenger, Sense Chat runs on the EOS blockchain.

What does it offer?

• Direct, encrypted, peer-to-peer communication (text and video)
• Customizable levels of privacy, anonymity
• Crypto wallet for EOS and Sense tokens

WhatsApp privacy and data harvesting?

• For the security and privacy minded, WhatsApp has been the go-to chat client for years. However, in 2014, WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook, and by April 2018, the founder and privacy advocate, Jan Koum, had left the organization. According to the New York Times a Facebook executive detailed possible reasons for the departure being related to concerns over the harvesting and selling of user data.

Oh ye, of little faith

• Concerns by security experts, lead many to question the integrity of the "end-to-end encryption" feature of WhatsApp, and just how much data is able to 'leak' from WhatsApp messenger.
• The truly paranoid, will be aware of Vault7 leaks suggesting intelligence agencies have compromised clients such as Signal, WhatsApp, etc.
• The extent of your identity and meta-data privacy is certainly questionable, when centralized, corporate entities hosting our private communication, are subject to co-operation with law enforcement and government issued subpoenas; this point being far from conspiracy theory

How to get started

• Sense Chat is available for Android and Apple iOS mobile devices. Search for "Sense Chat" on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store in order to download.

Create and / or login an (EOS) account

• 
• You will need an account / wallet on the EOS blockchain.
• EOS account creation is not typically 'free'.

Allow Sense Chat to create your new EOS account (free option)

• 

• When you first launch Sense Chat, click "Create Account"
• Because the Sense Chat dApp is effectively staking / creating your EOS account with this option, it is "free" to you, but a cost to the dApp. In order to avoid account generation abuse by bots or bad actors, 'advanced' verification is required.
• Verification is in the form of SMS code, or Telegram messenger
• SMS verification is currently disabled until further notice due to abuse by bots / bad actors
• Click Telegram and follow these Telegram registration instructions. Probably a good idea to have telegram messenger already installed and logged in on your device.
• 

Use an existing EOS account

• 
• When you first launch Sense Chat, choose the "import key" option. Enter your EOS private key, and hit import.
• If you're uncomfortable entering your EOS private key into the Sense App, or your EOS account is rather valuable with a generous quantity of EOS tokens, it may be a good idea to create a new EOS account for use with Sense Chat.
• Creating a new EOS account is easy, particularly if you have an existing EOS account to stake with. Many EOS desktop wallets have a "create / add account" option you may use to create your new EOS account for use with Sense Chat. This usually requires only a minimum of 1 EOS to stake and get started.

Create a new EOS account, at your own cost, independent of Sense Chat staking you

• As mentioned earlier, telegram messenger is the only verification method currently available if you wish to have the Sense chat dApp create your new EOS account.
• Therefore, if you do not have a telegram account with which to complete verification, and don't wish to register with telegram for the sole purpose of Sense Chat verification, you will havr to create your own EOS account / wallet, and use the generated keys to login.

Don't forget to backup your private key!

• If you created a new EOS account in the process of joining Sense Chat, don't forget to back up your Private Key.
• Go to the Account / Settings tab, click export EOS account. Unlock code > Copy Private Key. Store this key appropriately, as you would any of your other private keys in the crypto space.
• You can always uninstall the app, or migrate to a new device, and log right back in by using the "login using existing EOS account" and entering this private key.

What about the Sense token?

• The Sense Chat project was originally a dApp on the Ethereum blockchain. before migrating to the EOS.io ecosystem.
• Therefore, Sense tokens were originally ERC20 (Ethereum) tokens, and are still in circulation, commonly listed as SENSE.

• The ERC20 SENSE tokens can be migrated, or "teleported" to the EOS network, with a current "teleport bonus" of 4x. The new EOS tokens are being referred to as Sense or SNS.

• Currently, you can buy the ERC20 SENSE tokens on https://www.bancor.network/
• You can "teleport" the ERC20 SENSE tokens to your EOS account, and claim the 4x bonus, at https://sensetoken.com/token-migration
• Once teleported to the EOS network, the Sense tokens will appear in your EOS wallet / Sense wallet.
• As adoption and demand grows, the EOS Sense tokens may eventually be listed on exchanges.
• Further functionality and features will be developed and deployed that will provide a utility to the Sense tokens.

Best way to onboard friends, family, noobs?

• As outlined so far in this article, the EOS account requirement, or Telegram messenger verification method, might represent an onboarding challenge for the less tech savvy or utterly lazy.

Early adoption isn't without it's drawbacks

• Sense Chat is still in its infancy. There's going to be bugs and issues. Be patient.
