Decent Cities Children Need School Bus Facilities

       <code>At present, all regencies / cities in DIY have become child-friendly cities, namely three middle-category districts (Kulonprogo, Gunungkidul, and Bantul Regencies) and two districts / cities (Sleman Regency and Yogyakarta City). But until now, transportation access is still not certain to be safe for children, especially for children who ride bicycles.

The condition was highlighted by the Head of the Women's and Community Empowerment Agency (BPPM) DIY Arida Oetami. '' If I go to the office sometimes I see children who ride bicycles in the city bus, cars, '' said Arida, at a press conference to commemorate 2018 National Children's Day, in Kepatihan Yogyakarta.

His party hopes that transportation for school children must be safe. For this reason, he considered it necessary to think about providing school bus facilities by the local government. "I see private schools that have provided school buses for private schools. If there is a school bus that is safe, it can relieve parents so they do not need to pick up and drop off school children. I sometimes envy that there are special school buses abroad, "he said.

He admitted that to provide school buses this would certainly require willingness from the local government supported by the DPRD. He hopes that there are regencies / cities in DIY that have the initiative first to provide this school bus. "The provision of school buses is much safer than if a child has to ride a motorcycle," he said.

In fact, Arida added, in the DIY Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning Peace, Public Order and Community Protection, in article 26 there are two verses which require local governments to provide facilities to students in the form of buses and bicycles. "We will socialize the regulation and there are no children's rights that must be fulfilled."

Recognized in several public facilities in Yogyakarta such as malls, airports, including the BPPM DIY office, there are facilities for children's play, nursing rooms and clinics. But not all public facilities provide that.

Associated with the peak of the National Children's Day Commemoration in DIY, will be held at the Taman Budaya Yogyakarta Concert Hall on Thursday (9/8) with the theme 'Jogja Genius Children (Nimble, Empathy, Courageous, Superior and Healthy) Building Solidarity and Tolerance for Progress, Achievement and Share '.
