Google Wants To Stop Snoopers Looking At Your Phone
When you're on your phone, you may feel as if you are in a self-enclosed bubble, but how many times has someone else been reading your phone over your shoulder? How many times have you done it to other people? (This journo's eyeline is routinely drawn to snaps of cute kittens, should they appear on an adjacent screen.)
Google is now taking steps to combat this, with a new project spearheaded by Google researchers Hee Jung Ryu and Florian Schroff. Designed for the Google Pixel Phone, this technology will utilise the front-facing camera to catch anyway unwanted eyelines pointing at the screen.
They will be showcasing their new tech to the world on the 6 December at the Neural Information Processing Systems conference in Long Beach, California.
