Making Your Own Electric Grid: How The Same Technology That Enabled Bitcoin Allows Neighbor To Buy And Sell Renewable Energy
It's from a company called LO3 Energy, and it's a pilot project taking place in Brooklyn right now! Renewable energy users are able to buy and sell their energy using the same technology that gave us Bitcoin. This new system cuts out the middle man (the grid operator) and allows consumers to interact directly.
I really hope this ends up working. It would be nice for this to expand throughout the country
It would be really cool to have micro-grids where we could provide each other with electricity instead of using the grid operator.
