Globalization and Internet speed in Bangladesh
But the law of Bangladesh prohibits the use of an operator to share other operators' fiber optic infrastructures. As a result, the country has become a colony of foreign mobile companies. The published report was based on the average download speeds available up to December 01, 2007. Then there was no mobile technology in Bangladesh. The fourth generation (FourG) internet service was introduced in the month of the Language Movement of the year 2018. It is expected that this year the internet rate of Bangladesh in the index published next year will be at satisfactory level.
Due to the high value of internet, a significant portion of the total population is yet to be brought under internet service. No matter how much advanced technology is added to the internet service, if the public can not use it, it will not be of any use. There are a few reasons for the rise in Internet prices. One of them is distribution distortion.
Basically, bandwidth is provided through submarine cable. Cox's Bazar, Chittagong and Dhaka are accessed via the Internet through the cable. But in Dhaka city, those who use the Internet or outside the Internet, use the cable line of any organization when using the internet. Internet service providers have to pay a fixed price for this cable line. That's why the value of the internet increases at the customer level. The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and IT is working on how to make this distribution channel easier. It is expected that this will reduce the price of the internet a lot. Besides, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) authorities have to play an important role in monitoring the operators properly. Recently, Bangladesh's name was included in the list of developing countries. With the achievement, the challenge has increased a lot. It is necessary to develop the information technology to deal with those challenges. Without the speedy Internet, the desired target of improving IT could not be achieved. Apart from this, in this era of globalization, there is no alternative to the development of information and technology sectors if it continues to compete with other countries.
More than half of the world's current people are connected to the Internet. According to the continent, North America's 34.6 million, South America and the Caribbean are 43.7 billion, 705 million in Europe, 45.3 million in Africa, 16.4 million in the Middle East, 28 million in Oceania and 202.4 million in Asia People are connected to the Internet To facilitate the communication process with these large numbers of people and enable Bangladesh to compete in the global market, note that eliminating the obstacles, it is necessary to make the use of public by increasing the speed of the internet and reducing the cost. I hope the concerned authorities will take the country one step further in achieving the target of achieving the goal of upgrading Bangladesh to the level of developed countries by taking necessary initiatives.
