RE: Don't open a business in Thailand (part 2)

in #thailand6 years ago

Yeah, I think this is something a lot of non-natives overlook. They go to a place like this on vacation, and fall in love. They then say f-it I will run a business there, I am young etc...
Guess what, you aren't a native, and a lot of these countries are crazy unstable when it comes to policies. Guess what, the foreigner ALWAYS loses in this situation. Even if there are laws and protections in place, good luck trying to fight it, as the system will favor their own over you, and you will be left high and dry.
I have been living in Korea for 7 years. A place with far more stability than Thailand, and the horror stories of people getting screwed constantly by ILLEGAL contracts that the government and labor law are suppose to offer protections for, just get swept away... it's pathetic.
Just get a good teaching job for a couple years, take the money, and run.

extremely good advice. I visited many of my friends who were teachers here in Thailand now teach in Korea and are much happier there. Personally, i love the baseball games.
