Assuming a linear relationship between supply and demand, basic economics says that if supply halves, then price should double (not half).

That said, Bitcoin had a huge runup prior to the halving (from the 300s to the 600s). This was people anticipating the halving. By the time the halving already happened, it had already been priced in. That's why we've seen little to no movement since.
