Liverpool 4-1 Newcastle

This was probably one of the worst first halves I have seen Liverpool play in a long time. Newcastle just would not let Liverpool get control of the ball and after several chances including two Allison saves, a post and a couple in which their attackers just missed the goal they at last got the prize they deserved a goal and a lead that was up to that point logical. This goal was scored at the 36 minute.
Newcastle still was playing well but somehow Liverpool despite all the flaws they had shown went forward and seven minutes later they had not only scored the draw they even were ahead by one after Ekitike scored twice.

The second half of course was different, it must be great to go from playing your worst football to end up winning in the first half. The team looked much more confident and I frankly saw no way that Newcastle was going to revert this. In fact Liverpool looked more intent on scoring more goals than Newcastle looked like scoring the draw.

And Liverpool did score, Wirtz scored the third one and Konate who had really been trying scored the fourth and final goal. The score I believe is fair enough, Newcastle played a great first half but missed their chances and paid for it dearly. Now Liverpool are fifth but can lose that place depending on how Manchester United does. I do think what we saw was much closer to what we expect from Liverpool, of course the League title is not to be for Liverpool, but playing like this I think we can easily think of ending up in third place, which would be far better than I was hoping. I was actually expecting Liverpool to play Europa League next season, now my goals are much higher.
