The Diary Game: A Dinner Party (4/12/2025)

             A DINNER PARTY

This past week has been quite overwhelming for me, particularly with my schoolwork causing some stress. So when my friend invited me to a church dinner party last night, I eagerly accepted without a second thought. It felt like the perfect chance to relax and take a breather.

I was already filled with excitement since it had been a while since I attended such an event. We ordered a Bolt keke and set off. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a stunning scene everyone dressed elegantly in their beautiful dinner attire. We exchanged greetings with a few of my friend’s acquaintances before we headed to a backdrop for some photos. After taking several wonderful pictures, we made our way upstairs to the dinner venue.

Since the event was held at the church, the pastor was still giving a sermon when we entered. We quietly listened for a bit before being asked to move into the actual dining area. Stepping inside was like entering a dream the room was exquisitely decorated with neatly arranged tables, lovely tablecloths, and gentle lighting. Wine, water, and various drinks were already set at each table, but due to a larger crowd than anticipated, securing a table was challenging. My friend and I chose some regular seats and decided to enjoy the evening from there.

The MC kicked off the event by welcoming the dignitaries, followed by hilarious comedy acts that had the audience roaring with laughter. Later, a saxophonist took the stage and completely captivated everyone his soothing performance earned him loud cheers. Its been a while i experienced live music

Next up was the crowning of the new Miss Uyo Institute. It was enjoyable, though a bit lengthy as the contestants had to answer questions after their runway walks. Following that, food, drinks, and water were served. As it was getting late, we quickly ate so we could leave before transport became problematic.

And indeed, it became a bit of a challenge. With the hour getting late, most drivers raised their prices, so we had to wait a while for a reasonable fare. I finally got home just after 10 PM, took a quick shower, and joined my church’s online prayer group to wrap up my night with gratitude.

Although we didn’t stay long enough to find out who won the pageant, I believe all the contestants were winners graceful, confident, and intelligent.
