The Dairy Game || 01-12-2025|| A Fulfilling day at work

I woke up early this morning, didn’t check time but everywhere was still cool and quiet. As usual we sat down as a family and considered the daily text together. After that I did some small chores around the house, brushed my teeth, took my bath, ate rice, then dressed up in my grey shirt and trousers. I carried my bag and left for work. Sun was already out but still mild, not too strong yet.

When I reached, we were tasked with laying blocks for a tank stand in my boss’s compound. The work was relatively simple because it was just a few blocks. I didn’t know we would do site work so I came in my normal shirt. I just pulled it off and we started. My colleague Joseph laid two pillars, I laid the other two. After laying the blocks we mixed mortar again and plastered all four pillars. By the time we finished it was past one o’clock, sun was beating us well well. My body was tired and sweaty, but when I looked at the four pillars standing straight and smooth, I felt a real sense of accomplishment. I stood there for some seconds just smiling at the work we did..

My boss came to check and said the work was very neat, he was impressed. Even though it was volunteer work, he didn’t let us go empty—he gave me and Joseph garri and soup. We ate well. After eating we just sat in the office chatting and laughing because there was no serious work again.

Later my boss came back and gave me a new challenge. He said I’ve done plenty residential designs, now I should try commercial. He wants me to design a private bank. I told him no problem, I’ll start tomorrow. That one excited me small because I enjoy office work more than site, and architecture design is my favorite part of the job..

I got home, took my bath, ate again, and now I’m just sitting down resting. Body is tired from the sun and block work, but I’m happy with how the day went. Tomorrow I face the bank design. For now, let me rest small.
