Hello, Steemit.

For the last stage of La Ruta del Buen Comer I chose YOYO in Greater Tunis because it represents the reliable everyday restaurant that locals actually use and because it combines speed with a surprisingly cheerful room where hanging plants soften the ceiling, neon signs sketch little icons of coffee cups and burgers, and a long counter keeps orders flowing so you never feel trapped in a queue even at peak time while the kids are already pointing at desserts and parents negotiate sauces with a smile.

Bright menu boards rotate through savory and sweet choices so you can decide at a glance without pressure while the team at the register handles cash, cards on the small terminal, and a QR code for wallet apps which keeps the line moving.

Where it is and how it runs

This branch sits in Bou Mhel el Bassatine 2097 on the southern side of Greater Tunis which explains the steady traffic of families students and shift workers who stop in before or after errands and the opening hours are generous since the doors run every day from 8 AM to 1 AM which means the same address can serve as a morning coffee stop a quick lunch built around fries and chicken and a late dessert run after a movie, the phone number is +216 27575483 for quick checks about take away or birthday trays and the exact pin is available on Google Maps as an open location link.

Seating mixes café chairs and sturdy tables with stone like tops that are easy to wipe between customers and the staff clear trays quickly so turnover feels smooth even when the room is full and the soundtrack stays at a conversational volume so you can manage a family conversation without raising your voice.

Ordering and pacing

You order at the counter receive a number and collect your tray when it is called then you visit the sauce station to pick white garlic spicy orange and ketchup while napkins and water cups sit within reach and the branded paper on the trays keeps the table tidy when everyone is sharing, if you arrive with kids the line moves fast enough that they do not grow restless and the photo corner works like a built in pause between courses which is wonderful for capturing one last smile before dessert.

The green wall and the red script that reads Today is my day turn into a small celebration because no one leaves without a picture and the bench makes it easy to fit the whole group in the frame.

What we ate, how it tasted, and how much it costs in dinars and in steem

On the savory side the menu leans into comfort and the bowl called Frite YOYO starts with hot fries then climbs with chicken or beef plus a generous rain of cheddar and a cooling white garlic sauce so the textures behave exactly as a shareable bowl should with crisp edges and soft centers while the nuggets of protein carry spice without overwhelming the palate and we paired it with a crêpe salée that arrived thin toasted and folded into wedges around chicken and corn with a side of fries and a tricolor of sauces so each bite could be tuned from mild to lively.

Frite YOYO with chicken lands hot and generous and works perfectly as a starter for two hungry people. The crêpe salée is lightly crisp outside and soft inside and the sauces let you modulate heat and richness to taste.

For families the Box Kids YOYO delivers what busy nights need since it bundles nuggets or a mini burger with fries and a drink inside a colorful box that doubles as a toy carrier and the printed price reads 17.9 DT which converts to 75.54 steem using the rate that says one Tunisian dinar equals 4.22 steem.

Two kids boxes with a fun superhero design and tidy handles that are easy for little hands to carry.

On the sweet side YOYO becomes playful and we chose warm dough bites covered with ribbons of milk and white chocolate and the contrast between the crisp shell and the airy interior makes an ideal finish after salty plates and from the printed menu the individual sweets cluster around 12.9 DT and 14.9 DT which equal 54.44 steem and 62.88 steem while larger signatures such as Cornet de la crêpe show 19.9 DT or 83.98 steem and more budget friendly items exist as well for example Galette banane at 9.9 DT or 41.78 steem and Ice Dubai at 12.9 DT or 54.44 steem.

Chocolate draped dough bites give you that melting finish that pairs beautifully with a last sip of coffee.

Culture notes and my recommendations, folded into the visit

Tunisian food culture shows its heart through couscous that can be crowned with lamb chicken or coastal fish and through the street classic brik à l œuf that crackles at the first bite and perfumes your hands with parsley and harissa and in that context YOYO plays the role of the modern casual spot that solves weeknights without ceremony or stress which is why my simple plan for first timers is to start with Frite YOYO with chicken then split one crêpe salée and finish with a warm chocolate dessert because this sequence satisfies adults and delights children while keeping the bill friendly and if you like international comparisons you might enjoy poutine in Canada which I have tried and which would make a fun duel against Frite YOYO since cheddar and garlic sauce can hold their own against silky brown gravy and on the pastry side I would love to try the Austrian Kardinalschnitte one day because the blend of meringue and sponge sounds like an elegant counterpoint to YOYO s chocolate first style.

Poutine is an iconic Canadian dish.

And yes I kept one selfie as proof of presence and to show the warm café glow that gives the room its cozy personality.
