Hemp Through History - The Hemp Wars!

Hemp is a plant native to Asia, whose name comes from the classical Latin, “cannabis”, being cultivated in almost all the countries of the world. Hemp was of fundamental importance to the world powers of antiquity. From its inflorescences results marijuana, whose active principle is “Delta 2 tetrahydro-cannabinol”, and has a psychoactive action on the human being and important medical use in modern medicine. Its stem also supplies fibers with the same name of the plant, of great industrial importance.

In the remote past, there are historical quotations before Christ, such as that of Herodotus – nicknamed the “Father of History”, for having published at the time nine books depicting his travels in Asia, Africa, and Europe.

In the year 450 BC he reports that the Scythes – an ancient Iranian people of equestrian nomadic shepherds who throughout all Classical antiquity dominated the Pontic-tapas steppe, known at the time as Scythia – and Thracians – Hindu-European who inhabited Thrace , present Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Northeast Greece, Turkey, eastern Serbia and parts of Macedonia. They lived in tribes and were considered fearsome warriors and skillful knights who fought against the Greeks in the Trojan War. These civilizations made remarkable progress with the weaving of fine yarns with hemp fiber, which were so easily mistaken for linen.
