SLC-S29/W3-“Thinking and Ideas!| Seeing Problems Differently!”
It’s the third week of Steemit challenge and I am here again to share my thoughts and perspectives in this class.
Question 1: Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving them.
One every day problem in many communities here is poor waste disposal. Polluted streets and blocked drainage systems are often seen, especially in busy areas. Though this problem is obvious to everyone, it continues to affect daily life including the lives of living organisms in the sea.
One important step in solving this issue is creating consciousness. People need to see how poor waste managements harms the environment and people in it . Ensuring that there is enough waste bins and collecting of waste products regularly can also make proper disposal easier. Community sanitation can further encourage responsibility among individuals living in a particular place.
Question 2: Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?
This problem still exists because many people believe waste management is only the authority's responsibility. As a result, individuals do not feel responsible for their actions. Another reason is the lack of strict enforcement of sanitation rules, which allows negligent behavior to continue. However, many people were raised poorly without having proper hygiene practices or education on waste management. Knowing the 4 Rs in waste management will go a long way towards improving the environment and making it safe for healthy living.
Question 3: In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?
The most misunderstood part of this problem is that small actions do not matter. In reality, every piece of waste wrongly disposed contributes to a larger environmental issue. Like I said above that many are ignorant of the 4 Rs in waste management ( Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover) and when it get to the final stage which is disposal they also tend to dispose the waste inappropriately.
Question 4: If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?
If one mindset could be changed, it would be the belief that “someone else will fix it.” When people see cleanliness as a shared responsibility, real change can begin. Waste are not only generated by one person or individuals who are exposed, letting everyone understands that it is a shared responsibility to keep the community clean and healthy will help to prevent future environmental problems.
I will invite @eliany, @josepha and @chant to join the challenge.

Hi @adylinah, welcome to thinking and ideas week 3
It's unfortunate how the citizen blame the government for their problems when they are the ones creating these problems. How can an adult throw waste into a gutter? What does that imply? I just feel bad that we cannot help ourselves in the little way we could.
