Legal Weed Some Positives and Negatives

postimageSo with cannabis now legal in several states what does that mean in terms of personal freedom? Are cannabis users more or less free since the state governments have changed their policies? Are business owners better off with their business being legalized and regulated? Or were they better off with the black market? I have been an activist in the background of the legal weed movement for my entire adult life. I have always believed that caging and mentally confining people for possession and or use of any substance is an injustice.
I have been to Colorado before and after the recent changes in law and I was ecstatic to walk into a local market and buy a bag and a little candy and partake without the risk of being thrown into a cage. But now that weed is “legal “ I now see regulators making there move to manipulate the weed business out of the hands of the small operator and right smack into the hands of the corporate giants who fought legal weed tooth and nail for years. Looking at California you can see state and federal task forces busting mom and pop operations. Is this to pave the way for big pharma? In Colorado you see both state and federal agencies putting such a high tax burden on the local guy that they are actually struggling in this bull market to make it. Meanwhile Colorado has also started to look into new regulations that will no doubt turn this business to a boon for big operators who can afford to deal with the new regulation.
Legal weed is just the beginning of the fight now we will have to fight with our dollars to insure that we are supporting the people who have been risking life in a cage to bring us our product it is up to us to vote with our dollar and to work to eliminate regulation while promoting entrepreneurism. Keeping weed out of the government’s realm of control and decentralizing markets to keep big biz out of the weed biz should be our highest priority.
One avenue that we should all look at is the crypto coin market. With the growing technology in crypt coins. It is now possible to cut government out of the picture with low risk to the buyer and seller. Although recent takedowns of the Silk Road and other so called dark markets have occurred we now find new peer to peer technologies stepping forward.” NXT Free Market” an “OPEN BAZZAR” are two great examples of technology we can use in legal and illegal markets for promoting peer to peer purchases that support our own instead of the big corps that seem to need to take over every form of independent profit and will accommodate and promote the weed biz throughout the world while adding a layer of protection for customer and vendor.
In closing I say legal weed is great! Reducing the risk of being thrown in a cage for nonviolent action is great! But maybe it’s time to cut the government out of the process altogether and keep it in the hands of the people. Crypto currencies and the anonymity they bring are a great avenue for your day to day purchases legal or otherwise and the time has come to give them a hard look.
