SLC-S29/W6-“Thinking and Ideas!| One Idea Worth Spreading!”

When I look at many parents today without any legacy for their children, I wonder how they lived their lives back then. Some people say they didn't marry early. Others said they were hustling and started making a living at an old age. Yet others say that they didn't work smart. Just like working and earning a meager salary at the end of the month. It's just like earning 10k monthly in this economy, but you're going to work every day.

So what's my point? There's something from this prompt that I believe if upheld by many people. It won't make people grow up to raise children in poverty and suffering. The idea that children can only start making money when they are in their 30s should be abolished. The idea that children can only marry when they are matured in their early 30s. Like, how crude could this be?

Share one idea you believe could improve lives (locally or globally).

From the prompt I gave, I think one idea is that teenagers and youths should start making money at an early age. They shouldn't wait for white-collar jobs or until they are mature enough before they start making the money. If parents expose their children to digital skills or business opportunities that can help them plan their lives at an early age, it would prevent regrets in the future.

Most parents are making their money at old age, and it's affecting them. This is the time they should be enjoying the money, and these children also need to be exposed to smart ways of working legally that can actually earn them a good living, not too much and not too small. When children start making money at an early age instead of waiting to inherit or waiting till they get to the stage where they can get white-collar jobs, this would help in making them responsible and preventing regrets.

Life would be sweeter, and marriages won't have to suffer. Women won't have to remain single because men don't have money to marry them. Fathers won't run away from responsibilities because they don't have money. Let's imagine someone finishes school at the age of 25. When will he start making enough money to marry and take care of himself as an adult? Is it when he may have passed the bloom of youth? Anyways, it all depends, but we should make money at an early age to avoid regrets in the future.

Why is this idea important now?

It's important now because salary can't satisfy any longer, and it's not topping up. The cost of living in Nigeria is so high that in a few years from now, most people won't be able to afford basic necessities like they used to. Someone earning a salary of 30k in his 30s won't be able to plan marriage because expenses won't allow him to save. It's needed now because it was then that our parents felt life should be taken easily, as the standard of living wasn't as high as it is now. When people start making money early, they give themselves a chance to create legacies for their upcoming children.

We need to marry early

This is not the era to assume that people won't be able to manage money and that they should wait a little longer until they are in their late 20s. Soon, the lifespan of people will reduce, and no one will be able to stay alive for 70 years before death. All these things are because the scene of the world is changing.

If our parents had the opportunity to know what we know now, they'd be better people. Most of them regret when they sit back and reflect on how they wasted their teenage and young adult years, working so hard with little income. Now, it's very possible for someone to earn $60 a month or more without stress. All you need is the right information. This is the era where you work smart, you marry early, and you create legacies for your unborn children to add to their own.

Even while in school, there is a lot of financial work that children use to earn a living for themselves, even though it involves combining. We shouldn't wait until we are done with school before we get a well-paying job. You may not see even though you search.

Who do you feel needs to hear this idea the most?

Both parents, children, and employers need to hear this the most. Why? On the part of parents, they have created boundaries for their children not to make money for themselves. Fair enough, if you have generational wealth to give him, please let him know in time. If you don't have it, please let your child get something to do. Don't place education as a barrier, and don't give hope that education is the key to success. It was, but not anymore.

The majority who are graduates aren't successful because of school. They showcase the knowledge, fair enough, but school didn't give them job opportunities. While making this money, parents should advise their children on spending and saving to help them manage their finances.

Children, on the other hand, shouldn't wait until they are done with higher education before they earn a living. They should look for ways, and good enough, technology has made it possible to see a lot of online jobs that are well paying without having to stress much. Youths need to know that they are not young in their 20s. Those in their 20s know that if they fail to make it work before 30, it becomes difficult to cope unless luck shines on them.

PXL_20250419_120359651.PORTRAIT.jpg

Employers can only have consistent workers if they pay well. They are also contributing to the reason why people work hard with low pay. I understand that is so because they also earn money for themselves when people work for them, but on a scale, teachers are leaving because they have seen smarter work with better pay and less stress.

What is the first small step someone could take to begin?

Mindset development is the first thing one needs to buy into this idea that you'll see life once you're all grown, and you'll have some regrets as to why you didn't start early. Once your mind has been able to adapt to this idea, then every other thing is a headache. People have a different mindset about things, and you can't change that no matter how you try; that's why the rich will always keep getting richer and the poor will keep getting poorer.

Someone has heard that he can learn a digital skill with 10k that may improve his life for a lifetime financially; instead of giving careful thoughts and working towards achieving the money, he'll say he's not interested. He feels comfortable working where he's being given physical cash and he can count it.

That's the mentality people have today. They feel it's not the best time to make a living. They feel they are not mature enough, and some feel that it can only be physical work and nothing more. They'll need some certification if they want to earn higher; that's why they need to go to school. If you have this limiting mindset, even if you see the opportunity, you won't grab it. So mindset development is what takes people on their heels to make their lives better now before it's too late.

If everyone had this mindset, the rate of suffering would definitely reduce. In most developed countries, children of 8 years and above can create technologies and are earning money even at this young age, but their parents may have to keep it for them or save for them. Waiting until you're 25 before you start looking for a job is the crudest idea I can ever imagine. If you're in your 30s and you don't have up to 100k in your account, it means you think this life will wait for you to adjust and adapt and do things when you feel like doing them.

Every man needs to man up. Every woman needs to woman up.

Hi @bossj23, welcome to thinking and ideas week 6

My Observations:

Yes, making money should start at early stage. I totally missed an opportunity that would have given me so much money but my parents declined.

Most delay comes from the parents and people around the neighbourhood.

Saludos apreciado amigo.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, that's why I specified that the class is children is for teenagers and youths because I'm still a child to someone. You may not really understand the situation Sir, until you've spent days or weeks in Nigeria. Parents are now even forcing their children to make a living at the age of 10. Waiting for a perfect time or age doesn't work in my country anymore because the standard of living has changed for the worst

Si comprendo amigo
Mi país no está muy lejos de esa situación. Aquí se ven niños siendo explotados. Quizás hayan frases que no comprenda de tu texto porque la traducción influye mucho pero si logré captar la idea. Bendiciones

@bossj23, As a teenager whose parents have not given so much to financially, I find this advice highly relatable. I incredibly commend your ideas. I happily upvoted this :)
