The Diary Game Season 3 [ Sunday April 27th, 2025 ] Balancing health, work, and my passion for soccer
Greetings Steemit friends
What a week. After losing over two days due to the health situation of a family member, this happens to be one of those weeks I would not wish for. It made me reflect a lot about my health and how I sometimes become careless about it. It becomes complicated when we relax and allow situations to worsen. With all the ups and downs during the week, it was very challenging to stick to my weekly schedule.
On Sundays, I try my best to respect my regular Sunday morning sports activities. Before going for sports this morning, I did some domestic chores. I was up early because I needed to work on a client's web host. After doing some updates and uploading the files, the site launched, but some sections did not display data from the database. I was worried because I had promised the client I would fix the situation before the weekend. After checking the log file, I noticed the problem was with the PHP version.
My client’s host was running an older PHP version (7.4), which caused some functions not to work. I remember facing this same problem before when using more recent PHP versions. So, I updated the host’s PHP version, and immediately the site displayed all the database data correctly. I quickly emailed my client and called my colleague to head to the sports field.
When we got to the field, we sat for a while talking about the Copa del Rey match. We have a good number of Real Madrid fans, and it was funny seeing how Barcelona humbled them. That was the main point of interest because the Madrid fans couldn’t talk much.
From where I was sitting, I could hear them blaming their coach. This time, it wasn’t about the referee but about their coach.
As the discussion became intense and emotional, I started preparing for sports. Just like every Sunday, I had planned to run around the playing ground, but the coach decided we should all work out in one spot instead. After the warmup, those of us who stayed back went on to play football.
We started the match, and this time, I played the left-back position. A change from last week when I played as a right-back. I am gradually gaining some ground on the defensive line, even though I love playing in the middle.
It was another interesting match, and Team Red outscored Team Blue.
Immediately after the game, I didn’t wait for the after-fun gathering but rushed back home. I needed to attend a ceremony celebrating one of my young man, graduating his first batch from his tech institution. I just needed to show up to honor his invitation.
I have been coming around their school and even had the chance to work with some of the students. From there, I rushed to the agency to collect a parcel. A USB flash drive containing content for my client's website. He always sends content through a USB flash, claiming the files are too large to send online.
From the agency, I passed through the office to pick up my bag since I had left it in the morning before heading to the field. When I got home, I helped my wife with some domestic work to prepare for the next day. We were working while watching the Liverpool game.
I won't talk too much about the fact that Liverpool are the English Premier League Champions for the 2024/2025 season.
Most teams in the league made it too easy for Liverpool this season. While watching their celebrations after beating Tottenham 5–1, I was also having my dinner.
My dinner was a local meal, cassava flour, and Ogbono soup. A dish popularly eaten in the Eastern regions of Nigeria. It happens to be the only type of swallow I eat. After dinner, I relaxed for a while and went to bed. That’s how I ended my day, tired from my many activities. It was a fulfilling day, as I was able to have my client’s site up and running and collect the parcel sent to me from Yaoundé.
Cheers
