Reg and Derek discuss scientific principles...
Reg and Derek had left the sight of land a long, long time ago.
Many light's and dark's had passed as they swam along, cheerfully chatting away to each other.
"Where are we going Derek?," Reg said
"I'm not sure really Reg, I have never been this far warm before," Replied Derek.
"Me neither," Reg said, excitedly, "I haven't see any ice for many lights and dark's!
“I wish I was taller, Derek!” Reg said, suddenly.
“Why?,” Derek said.
“Then we could see further, and see whats coming up - and I want to meet more Gerald's,” Said Reg.
“Yeah, 'tall' isn't really much of an issue with whales, Reg,” Derek said. “ Although, I do sometimes lift my head out of the water to see if there are any any penguins on the icebergs to ea.....”
He trailed off, as Reg pecked him fiercely on his head..
“Ouch! I didn't mean you, my little feathery friend- and that was before I went pectarian-ist, anyway..”
Reg eyed him suspiciously.
Reg continued, “Gerald could see for a long long way, when he climbed high up, in his tree. The wood he stood on nearly broke, they were that thin."
“Twigs, “ Derek interrupted.
“What?," replied Reg
“They are called twigs, the little pieces of wood on the top of a tree," explained Derek.
“Ah, now I understand what Gerald meant," Reg said,
“I find that very hard to believe Reg, but tell me anyway..”
"Well, I asked Gerald why he kept climbing higher in his tree to see things - especially when he was so drunk all the time. Very dangerous, I would have thought..."
“What did he say,?” Derek said, interrupting Reg.
He had a tendency to ramble and wanted to keep him on topic...
"Gerald said the secret in seeing more, and to understand what is happening in the world, all lies with his twigs on his tree."
“Well, he actually said twigsonmetree, not twigs on his tree.” Reg said, correcting himself.
“What's your point Reg?" Derek said, not understanding what the hell his friend was talking about..
“Well, if used twigonmetree, by standing on top your on your fin, we could see much, much further, Derek.”
Reg climbed up, and balanced on his fin, to see how far he could see.
“You see Derek, I see for a long long way now,!” Reg said, all excitedly.
Reg got exited very easily.
“I'm very happy for you, Reg.” Derek said. He didn't get as excited quite so easily, but He loved they way his little friend did.
“Hey Derek!, Reg shouted down to him, "I can see your family! They are coming to see you. They are long way away, but heading over here. Their fins look different than yours though, more grey in color and a different shape. You have a big family Derek!”
“Shit,” Derek said.
“Whats wrong, Derek? Don't you want to say hi?” Reg asked, wondering at Derek's change of tone in his voice.
"I don't think that's my family, Reg I think that's a group of sharks.” Derek said seriously.
“Oh.....Are you scared Derek,?” Said Reg, wondering what sharks was.
“Not in the slightest Reg, but you should be!” Derek said, concern in his voice for his little buddy.
Reg didn't like his twigonmetree idea quite so much now...You could see too much sometimes...
They gray fins continued to head towards them...

nice work buddy! danger is looming with the sharks coming their way.. and you had to cut it for part 2! nooooo.. hehe :)
lol - cheers! - oooooh.... the tension ....
Ohhh .... this is without a doubt one of the best episodes so far! It is beautiful :) I love the dialogue and bonding between Reg & Derek here.
Reg's traits, he is so sweet and naive, he rambles, he doesn't know anything, he is so easily pleased! Derek, the all knowledgeable and confident! Ahahah let's see how he is going to deal with the baddies.
I am very curious to see where this journey will take them :)
Oh, cool! - thank you v. much !
They are a resourceful pair.....erm....maybe.....
(Imagine if they had interactions that change the course of human history..............?)
Ok, ok .... I am intrigued ....
No time for philosophical questions now....they have a more urgent issue's at hand (or wing, or flipper... or something)
