It is cheap to lose weight. Is this true or false?

If you have been on a diet before you will agree with me that losing weight is not easy and you might agree that it is not necessarily cheap. The latter for me is a myth and I want to take a closer look at it.

BUT before we storm away and get an answer on the statement lets first take a closer look at what is the ideal weight.

I’m sure most of you have heard the term BMI (Body Mass Index). For those of you haven’t this is just a tool used by dieticians and health professionals to determine your weight category. They take your weight and height and then they calculate the category.

What the BMI tells you;

I’ve seen on numerous occasion that people who I thought was slim appears to be overweight according to their BMI measurements therefore I have a much easier way to determine if there is a weight problem or not. I look at a “healthy weight range table”.

Something that you can print and stick on your fridge for the whole family to see and to be made aware of.

Back to that question I asked right at the beginning;
It is cheap to lose weight. Is this true or false?

Today there is an array of different methods, products and help lines (books, CD’s, DVD’s, counseling programs, equipment and many more) on the market to choose from. These items are constantly in our faces. If it is not in the magazines that we read, it is on television, bill boards and radio commercials. All of the mentioned claiming that they are the key to weight loss and proclaiming that they are the answer to our weight problems.

God was wonderful when he created us. He created us all unique and as we are all different some of us need more and some of us need less. The same for when we are on a diet. Some of us can spend no money on weight loss and others have to go through the whole package. I believe that we can choose to correct what is wrong in our lives and by doing that we can do it by ourselves. My answer on, “It is cheap to lose weight” is TRUE.

Are you one of those that pay a monthly fee to belong to the health and exercise club just around the corner but never go there? Are you one of those paying a monthly fee to belong to a weight loss program but never go to weigh in? Or are you one of those that buy those pricey low carb meals, protein bars and shakes from your local supermarket?

If I had all the money that I have wasted on items that I have paid for on my journey to make me slim and never used it I can feed an orphanage of 200 children for a whole year. Scary but true.

How many of us have considered surgery as a last resort? Again I am guilty. I have been so desperate with times that I was even prepared to pay thousands of rand (South African currency) to get results. This solution is very expensive and so often things can go wrong.

Which program will give the best results for the least money? If you know the answer to this question you will be a millionaire in less than 24 hours.

There is no real answer to this. It all depends on yourself, your needs and if it fits your pocket.
• I choose not to spend any money on weight loss products, on a weight loss program or a weight loss eating plan.
• I choose the simple ways, to eat right and to exercise – eating less and exercising more

You can do the same!

Is not easy to loss weight. I tried it so many times but thank God I now maintain my weight. Thanks for sharing, the best part of it is exercising.

Losing of weight is not a day journey, it is a consistent journey, the truth is that once you stop exercise and start eating anyhow you will obviously gather fat more than you ever had. Thank you for this educative post.

I believe that we can choose to correct what is wrong in our lives and by doing that we can do it by ourselves.

I love your statement here. It is our decision to live right. I know persons that spends lots of money on weight loss yet nothing comes out of it.

To lose weight can be one hell of a rollercoaster ride.

I agree with you ma, eating less and doing enough exercise is the key to weight loss. Do spending much money on it is not much advisable.
