The Diary Game - A day full of surprises from the men in my life!

Hi there!
RISE AND SHINE
This morning I was surprise as I got woken up not by the noise of the ocean but by the sound of rain falling softly.
How I wish I could just pull up the duvet, cover my shoulders, and close my eyes. Being a mother, however, this is not how it is done.
I am the one who had to get up, make the coffee, and wake up the two men.
But first, there was some time to switch on my computer and take a "peep" at what was happening in Steemit. I always say I am just going to have a peep, but then I end up spending hours on my computer.
Often I have to laugh at myself in the morning when I am running between the kitchen and the study. I just have to time everything perfectly! This morning was no different.
EARLY MORNING
Today was dress-up day at the school. The kids had to wear clothing according to their career choices. Ten minutes before leaving, my stepson was still not ready. He was all dressed up in summer clothes as a fisherman.
Oh no! Short sleeves and a T-shirt while it is pouring outside. I get it; you love fishing, but young man, you cannot go to school like that.
In the end, I grabbed some clothes and put them together for him to choose from. He can now dress as a businessman, a program developer, or a gamer. I truly thought the latter would be his choice. He emerged from his room dressed up in black pants, black socks, black shoes, a black T-shirt, and a black hoody.
Okay, it was clear that he was not going to get cold today. It was, however, a mystery to me what his choice of career would be… A spy! Heavens! I am so glad that I am not a teacher.
With the two men at work, at school, and out of my way, I could have a quick shower and return to my computer. It was time to get serious about my daily tasks on Steemit.
MOM’S TAXI IS ON THE MOVE
If one drop—only one drop—of rain falls, my family shouts for pancakes. It was still raining and very wet when I left home. I was just too busy in front of my computer today. There was no time for baking pancakes.
I was debating if I should buy some when I fetch Divan from school, but at 3 STEEM a pancake, I don’t think it is worth it.
Off to school! Luckily, I didn’t have to wait long as it was still raining and there was clearly no dragging of feet today.
"So what did your teacher say about you wanting to be a spy when you grow up?" I asked him.
"I didn’t tell him I was a spy. I told him and the principal that I was a drug dealer."
No ways! I was so shocked that I skipped the stop! Oh no! What must they think of us!
Kids, sometimes you just want to wring their necks.
FROM DUSK TO DAWN
Most of my afternoon was also spent behind my computer.
As if one surprise from a child was not enough for one day. I got another surprise, this time from one of my grandchildren.
He loves Zulu songs. Zulu is one of the black languages in South Africa. Only a handful of whites speak it. The Zulus are one of the tribes, and they originate mainly from the province we are now living in, KwaZulu Natal. My grandson does not stay in this province but in a province that is well known for farming and has mainly white farmers. Singing Zulu songs was a total surprise to me.
He loves sports and is also very good at them; therefore, he is attending one of the top schools in South Africa, Grey College.
Driving to a sports day, he was singing one of his favorite Zulu songs, at the top of his voice, in the bus. Without him knowing it, one of the bus drivers recorded him and put the video on social media.
It is such a hit! So much that the famous black artist who sings the original song asked him to perform in one of his next music videos and he was asked to play a small role in a movie.
So in one day, I have a drug dealer and a famous Zulu singer in my family.
This is not where my surprise of the day ended. Hubby surprised us by taking us out for a quick meal at the Market!
Did I complain? Never!

Until next time.

My first impulse: what a cool son you have! He should take everything the art scene throws at him!
My second impulse: oh oh. In Germany that would be real trouble now. "Cultural appropriation" is a big topic right now and an even bigger crime...
My third impulse: how stupid can people be if they want to regulate the joy of life?
Mein erster Impuls: was für einen coolen Sohn Du hast! Soll bloß alles mitnehmen, was ihm die Kunstszene an Chancen zuwirft!
Mein zweiter Impuls: oh oh.
South Africa is a very complex country and the apartheid era left a huge mark not only between black and white but all races.
It is only through sharing culture and sport that we are starting to be a united country. Happenings like this, a white boy singing a black artist song, can spark significant changes.
Cultural appropriation, indeed stupid and I hope it doesn't cross the ocean.
Best statement ever!!
I really enjoy the surprises you had...hahaha. Sometimes kids do things that are beyond our imagination. My younger son who is 9 years old asked me one day whether the name "Afif" is beautiful. I said beautiful. Why? He said that his Grandson's name is what he wants it to be....My Goodness. He's just a nine-year-old kid!!!

Awh that is so precious!(•ิ‿•ิ) Bless his little soul!
I often wish I wrote down the funny things my kids said or did. I forgotten most of them. It is only when we are together as a family we would start, "Do you remember...?" This is when all the saying comes out and we can laugh all over again.
Cheers to happy memories!
Thanks for the visit! 🎕

Amiga las sorpresas siempre son bienvenidas y si vienen de parte de esos seres que tanto amamos mucho mas. Es hermoso que tengas a tu lado los hombres de tu vida! Bendiciones.
You are right, I should count my blessings every time I receive a surprise no matter in what weird or wonderful "packaging" they come in. This is what makes life so special.
