#club5050 Planting An Amaryllis (75 STEEM Power Up)
The exotic amaryllis is a popular gift here in England around the winter holidays. I was lucky to find a big box containing one in my stocking this year. Now as I am back in the city of London I decided to spend my lunch break planting it.

Let me make the introductions first! It came here all the way from the Netherlands, I assume on the ferry as it is cheaper, easier and it wasn’t in a rush really as long as people plant it by the end of January. This should be taken seriously as it starts sprouting in the box and then the stem and leaves are very delicate and pale due to the lack of direct light.

Talking of the light the amaryllis loves as much as possible of it which speeds up its growth and you will get it to flower so much sooner. A window sill works best for the amaryllis ideally not on a ground floor.

The Netherlands are an ever popular destination for all who enjoy a bit of gardening. Keukenhof which I visited is a fantastic botanical garden within an easy reach of Amsterdam including Schiphol, its international airport.

The garden is certainly not to miss especially between March and May when it is an oasis of bulbous flowers and, without exaggeration, in all colours, shapes and sizes.

The amaryllis bulb is quite ginormous as you can see and its roots are pink on the inside. The bulb itself reminded me instantly of fennel, though when you look at it closely more of you would relate it to onion I suppose.
Camera: Nikon D5600 Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/160 Aperture: f/4.7
Planting your new flower is actually quite simple and not messy at all. There are two packs of compost included and you are meant to empty one of them into the flower pot. Then you place the bulb upright in the middle and cover it with the remaining compost. As simple as that really and it barely requires the use of gardening gloves.

Shutter Speed: 1/80 Aperture: f/4.4
This amaryllis also came with a saucer but you can always just remove it and put the plastic pot into a pretty ceramic indoor container which will look much better in your lounge for instance.
Camera: Nikon D5600 Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f/3.8
I like growing amaryllis better then a poinsettia for instance which is also a flower we usually gift or are gifted here around the winter holidays. Though I also happily gave a home to a poinsettia for over three years now.
Camera: Nikon D5600 Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ISO: 220
Shutter Speed: 1/250 Aperture: f/5
Many just bin the amaryllis bulbs once they have flowered but I strongly advise you to keep them, leaving the long green leaves to dry out fully as they are what feeds the bulb.
Camera: Nikon D5600 Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ISO: 1,000
Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f/5
Then store the bulbs somewhere cooler, away from direct light and just give them a bit of water every two weeks or so. In less than a year they will reward you with even more flowers. A bulb might even split into two parts and surprise you with two stems bearing up to six flowers each in just a single pot.

I hope you like the amaryllis flowers and tips I was delighted to share with you today. It is a great time of the year to go out and get one for yourself, your family, friends or work colleague as they are on sale right now after the holidays, up to 75% off.

I also powered up 75 STEEM and below you can find a screenshoot of this transaction. I can't wait to earn more so I am able to power up again.

Thank you ever so much @worldofxpilar This is certainly awesome! I appreciate your support which makes me continue to contribute actively here in our community. I already started working on my next post which I will go live with later tonight. I wish you a successful week and thank you again.
Our friendly company planned a trip to the Netherlands in December 2020. But the pandemic has ruined our plans. And in December 2021 we didn't go anywhere either. It's so sad.
The girls from our company wanted to smoke weed in Holland.
Cool flower! It is also necessary to give something similar to my wife on March 8 - Women's Day in Russia.
Oh dear. We all got trips cancelled due to the pandemic. I reckon the girls will enjoy better some of the fancy cakes licensed coffee shops serve.
I am glad that you like the flower. You better start thinking about what colour your wife would enjoy best. International Women's Day is not really a thing here though the past couple of years some companies started shouting out about it as a part of their marketing campaigns. We normally get an email about it at work but that's about it really. I have been abroad on 8th March and I was given flowers. Over here in England Mother's Day is widely celebrated though when the mums traditionally receive flowers bouquets or potted. It changes date though as it needs to be three weeks before Easter. This year it will be on 27th March.
And Mother's Day has only recently appeared in our country. And Father's Day, Grandmother's Day.
They all came from Europe. These are interesting holidays.
But March 8 has become such a playful holiday for a long time. There are a lot of jokes about him. 1 day a year when everyone starts loving women. A woman in the morning begins to cook a lot of dishes, treats, so that by the evening she will be tired. And March 9 is a favorite men's day. These are all jokes.
Wow what beautiful and detail post of this flower as how it comes and how to grow. You captured beautiful photo of this flower and if get chance i would love to visit garden in Amsterdam as I love flowers from where i get lots of positivity. Have a nice day ❤️
Greetings my friend 💁♀️Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my amaryllis post. I am pleased that you are fond of this stunning flower! We need to do our best to surround ourselves with as many pretty little things as possible. The amaryllis has gorgeous flowers and it is believe it or not surprisingly easy to look after. Enjoy your weekend 🌸
