Los Morros de San Juan es una formación de rocas calizas con una altura un poco mayor a 1000 metros y con una edad aproximada de más de 80 millones de años.
También conocido como PARQUE NACIONAL MONUMENTO NATURAL ARISTIDES ROJAS, decreto que se dio en el gobierno del General Pérez Jiménez, quien fuera presidente desde el periodo de 1948 hasta 1958,
Los Morros dan su nombre como apellido de la ciudad. Quienes visitan a San Juan de Los Morros por la vía que une a Villa de Cura, estado Aragua y la ciudad puede recibir la bienvenida que le da esta formación natural desde mucho antes de llegar.
Cual modelo en pasarela. Los Morros van mostrando todo su esplendor en diferentes poses hasta llegar a la ciudad. Ya dentro de ella se pueden divisar desde una gran parte de la misma.
Uno de los atractivos turísticos que poseía la ciudad era el ascenso guiado hasta el Faro que se muestra en lo más alto de esta formación rocosa. Dicho faro fue construido en la época de la presidencia del Generalísimo Juan Vicente Gómez a comienzo del siglo 20 y servía como guía a las aeronaves que formaban el reciente nacimiento de la aviación en Venezuela.
Este faro fue construido por los presos de la época y fue de manera manual. Subiendo a cuestas todos los materiales necesarios para la construcción del mismo mediantes escaleras tipo bomberos.
Yo, de joven, fui muchas veces guía para algunos turistas y lugareños interesados en visitar dicho faro. Si mal no recuerdo son alrededor de 28 escaleras que hay que subir con sumo cuidado ya que las escaleras antes mencionadas no están hechas para una subida turística normal. Sin embargo este es uno de los atractivos que atraen más a quienes quieren visitar dicho monumentos. Saber o imaginarse como los presos subieron por ese camino la gran cantidad de cemento y hierros a la cima.
En esa época de joven, en unas vacaciones por la semana santa, un grupo de amigos y amigas decidimos acampara por tres días en la cumbre de Los Morros. Esta acampada se alargó a diez días allí. Bajando un grupo, seleccionado por sorteo, diariamente a buscar suministros. Tanto de comida como bebidas espirituosas.
La vista desde allí es un espectáculo para aquellos que aprecian la naturaleza. Desde allí, en un día despejado, se puede llegar a observar la ciudad de Maracay por un lado. Incluyendo la montaña del Parque nacional Henry Pittier que se atraviesa para llegar a las poblaciones costeras de Choroni y Ocumare de la Costa. Otra zona que se puede visualizar desde allí es parte del Lago de Valencia. Y por supuesto el comienzo de la extensión de los llanos guariqueños.
En las noches que estuvimos allí acampando, pudimos apreciar formaciones de nubes que creaban una sábana de las mismas de un lado de Los Morros, todo esto gracias al viento. Creando una ilusión muy agradable.
Un regalo de la naturaleza que le da a todos aquellos, oriundos o turistas, que se detienen en algún momento del día para apreciar esta maravilla.

Los Morros de San Juan is a limestone rock formation with a height of a little more than 1000 meters and with an approximate age of more than 80 million years.
Also known as NATIONAL PARK NATURAL MONUMENT ARISTIDES ROJAS, decree that was given in the government of General Perez Jimenez, who was president from the period of 1948 to 1958,
The Morros give their name as the last name of the city. Those who visit San Juan de Los Morros by the road that joins Villa de Cura, Aragua State and the city can receive the welcome that this natural formation gives to them since long before their arrival.

When I was young, I was often a guide for some tourists and locals interested in visiting this lighthouse. If I remember correctly, there are about 28 stairs that must be climbed very carefully since the aforementioned stairs are not made for a normal tourist climb. However, this is one of the attractions that attract more people who want to visit these monuments. Knowing or imagining how the prisoners climbed the great amount of cement and iron to the top.
At that time, when I was young, during a vacation for the Holy Week, a group of friends decided to camp for three days at the summit of Los Morros. This camp was extended to ten days there. A group, selected by lottery, went down every day to look for supplies. Both food and spirits.
The view from there is a spectacle for those who appreciate nature. From there, on a clear day, you can see the city of Maracay from one side. Including the mountain of the Henry Pittier National Park that is crossed to reach the coastal towns of Choroni and Ocumare de la Costa. Another area that can be seen from there is part of the Lake of Valencia. And of course the beginning of the extension of the Guariqueño plains.
In the nights we were there camping, we could appreciate cloud formations that created a sheet of the same on one side of Los Morros, all this thanks to the wind. Creating a very pleasant illusion.
A gift of nature that gives all those, natives or tourists, who stop at some point during the day to appreciate this wonder.
