Italian will receive 15,000 euros after his wife deceives him with a priest
After a judicial process that lasted 5 years, the sentence was issued last year and ratified 6 months ago, but was only released this week.
Father Vito Isachi, the 45-year-old pastor linked to this trial, has resigned in the archdiocese of L'Aquila on Tuesday, August 1, after publicly acknowledging the court's decision.
While the woman, whose name did not transcend, has been forced to pay thousands of euros, Father Isacchi was excused from paying a compensation, as the court considers it "irrelevant" as to the breach of the marriage contract.
"The plaintiff's claim against the woman must be accepted and dismissed against the accused Isacchi, since the claim is based on a violation of the duty of fidelity in marriage, an obligation that does not concern the third party (Isacchi) ", Says the court's ruling.
In addition, incredible as it may seem, the court has forced the deceased husband to pay 3,200 euros ($ 3,800) as compensation.
The Archdiocese of L'Aquila has expressed regret over the situation and has assured that Isacchi has repented of his actions. "Don Vito acknowledges his moral responsibility and apologizes for the inconvenience and suffering caused to the religious community and society. The priest has already stated that he will not accept the contribution that the court grants him," the archdiocese said in a statement.
Father Isacchi is originally from the city of Bergamo in northern Italy. He was transferred in 2010 from his parish in Rome to L'Aquila, a town located some 110 kilometers from the capital, after the scandal became public.
Now the lawyers of the deceived husband urge the Church to take more severe measures against Isacchi, claiming that the pastor has violated canon law and vows of celibacy.
