I manage the Discord server for Steemit's LGBT+ community, which you're welcome to join by clicking on the banner at the end of this comment. There is a brief and straightforward screening in our welcome channel to keep out trolls (because they're everywhere ...) and protect our members' privacy.

If you haven't already done so, take your time to read the Welcome and FAQ pages, which answer most common questions. There is also a Google Doc created by @sykochica titled, appropriately, Answering Common Questions. She's been a mentor to many of us and can be found on Steem Chat when she's not insanely busy at her day job. There is a lot of information to absorb, and it's a steep learning curve we all had to climb at one time or another.
