Representing A Million Voices NGO at the Arendal International Market – Short Film | Adventure Every Day
What better time to experience the beautiful town of Arendal, Norway than on the weekend of their international market?
I was recently there with my friends Charlotte and Justin helping to promote the NGO Charlotte started, A Million Voices (AMV), which works with children growing up in poverty in Manila, Philippines. In case you missed yesterday’s post, you can check it out for a full description of the work they are doing.
As with all of my posts this week from my Arendal trip, the earnings will be used to make a donation to AMV to help them continue to operate and make a difference in children’s lives. So your upvote will be directly helping children in need!
Where in the World?
Arendal is a town and municipality in the county of Aust-Agder along Norway's southern coast. It is about a 4-hour bus ride from the capital city of Oslo.
Arendal Internasjonalt Marked (International Market)
Started in 1994, the Arendal Internasjonalt Marked is "a colorful meeting between different cultures and cultural expressions!" Norway may not be the most diverse country in the world, but you see at this event that it does in fact support a vibrant immigrant community with people from all corners of the globe, even in the small town of Arendal.
This free-entrance festival takes place in Arendal's Kanalplassen at the city center. The festival consists of a variety of vendors selling art, crafts and other items, as well as food stands serving up delectable dishes from a wide variety of cultural cuisines. There are fun activities like face painting for kids, and a stage where participants perform music, dance and entertainment routines. The mayor of Arendal was even spotted with his daughter soaking in the god stemning (good atmosphere).

A Million Voices at the Internasjonalt Marked
A Million Voices was represented with a booth at the market, where they sold bags, t-shirts and other merchandise used to raise funds for the amazing work they do in the Philippines. Here are some photos of the AMV booth:
