The Venice Carnival. Part II
Beginning - part one can be read here.
Masks of various kinds of birds of prey and extraordinary animals are very popular, the writers' fantasies are almost unlimited ...
But among the Venetians, the habit of not removing the mask was gradually born, and after the carnival was finished, and some were very clever behind the mask, so as not to be recognized, attacking residents and ordinary guests.
In addition to the city authorities who are not satisfied, the church intervenes, officially prohibiting the use of masks after the end of the carnival, so as not to let people do improper actions, and so on until they are imprisoned.
But when wearing masks at the Venetian carnival, especially in the middle of the XVIII century, such negative things also emerged, because of the enormous excitement and despair tempting on the threshold of immorality. People devote less and less carnivals to Christian spiritual traditions, they just want to have fun, come full of masks and costumes.
Permissive during carnival leads to the fact that in gambling homes people spend all their wealth, and in marital relationships during carnivals there are bacchanalia full of mutual betrayal.
In the atmosphere of a Venetian carnival of famous Venetian pedestrian spirit rules, Casanova, and masks hide the identities of those who create these fury. And if it were not for Napoleon's puritan, who seized the land of Venice in the late XVIII century and strictly forbade this disgrace, then who knows what the people of Venice will accomplish (but it should be noted that the tradition of rampant passion and even debauchery at the carnival Italy then exists).
In the Middle Ages, colorful carnival festivals, in addition to costume performances, were accompanied by extraordinary acrobatic and circus acts, when acrobats in public walked down the cable from St. Bell's bell tower. Mark to the square in front of Palazzo Doge.
Now various types of circus players work at many carnival sites, and acrobatics on cables have been replaced by mechanical pigeon watering confetti, the range above San Marco Square is the beginning of the carnival.
Your attention is invited to a retrospective mask of the colorful fantasy carnival in Venice.
In the tradition of any carnival - processions along the main road and the town square, in Venice, are replaced by massive gondola swimming with guests and participants along the Grand Canal.
This is what looks like at the beginning of swimming.
A massive swim in narrow conditions and sensations can always be replaced with individual tours with handsome gondoliers in carnival clothing, and moreover, often beautiful singing.
And especially if your carnival costume has the same "purple wing" range, then you definitely need a tour and personal transportation, of course ...
