Hi everyone,

If you are a regular visitor to my blog, you certainly know that most of my posts are somehow related to traveling. Traveling and tourism have been an important part of my life and I am always happy to find out positive news coming from these industries.

Another passion of mine is promoting my beautiful homeland, the Czech Republic, especially when combined with the above mentioned. Therefore, I was very excited when I saw the results of a survey carried out recently by the renowned agency Henley & Partners.

According to their latest research (published just a few days ago), Czech passports are the 7th most powerful passports in the world!

The Czech Republic shares the 7th position with Malta and New Zealand. Citizens of these three countries can travel freely to 173 countries, which is just 7 countries short of the survey winners Japan and Singapore, whose passports are currently the world´s most powerful with 180 countries to travel freely.

To see the full ranking (including countries whose citizens have the least travel freedom) check out this article.

How powerful are your passports, my Steemit fellows? Are you satisfied with the number of countries you can visit with your passports? Let me know in the comments!

Please feel free to check out some of my other recent posts.

i thought is was norway or usa that was number 1

I am from Singapore, one of the countries on the top of the list, with visa free access to a lot of countries.

But I am sad to report that most Singaporeans don't even make use of this advantage. They (I write in the third person because I consider myself an exception to the topic on hand) prefer to travel to countries which are practically open to anyone with a passport, like France, Spain (EU), Australia (Oceania), Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (close neighbours), USA.

Relatively "exotic" countries like Ukraine, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Costa Rica, Paraguay (thanks Paraguay, their removal of our visa requirement allowed us to be tops), are never on their "to visit" lists.

Most Singaporeans' travel choices are baised.

  1. White supremacy: USA or Europe are top travel destinations for long distance travel.
  2. Same race, same creed, same ancestry: Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia... trump equally near countries like Cambodia, Myanmar or Nepal.
  3. Instagram: I MUST go to Paris because taking a selfie with the Eiffel Tower is the latest instagram hit. Never mind that it costs three times as much as equally beautiful Croatia.

So, seriously, having a powerful passport in a regular Singaporean's hands is like having a top of the class kitchen in your house but continuing to buy takeout every day, from the same store.

Thank you for sharing some habits of your fellow countryman! It is interesting to see the differences in cultures. I am glad to see you come out different! Wishing you happy travels! Tomas

Thanks. I'm roaming South America "Oh! So dangerous! There are drug wars aren't there?" at the moment. When I was about to begin on my gap year "Why such a long holiday? By the time you come back your classmates will have had a year extra of work experience under their belt.", the most common advice I got was "Why not visit a majority Chinese (my family is of Chinese descent) country? It is safer.", oh really?

Thanks for post. This is my first comment on your post. I didn’t know that country are ranked... your country is very amazing and ranking 7 which is really good and you can travel to many countries and i cant .my was at last....you are doing a great job advertising your country on steemit and people are attracted towards your country.

Thank you for your compliments... I hope to see more fellow Steemians visiting:)!

And then there is our kashmir(in india) where passports are powerless!
i am not allowed to visit my neighbouring country

I am sorry to hear that... I hope your situtation changes at some point in near future and you will be able to travel to more destinations.

7th is not bad! I see Norway I ranked even higher at number 4, so I surely cannot complain. I wonder which four countries allow Norwegian people to come without a visa, but not you guys from the Czech Republic?

Yeah, Norway comes to the top of many different rankings! No, we are allowed to come without Visa just as many other countries... I think you got it little mixed up... Have a good one. Tomas

Belgium here at number 6!
We are one spot ahead of you ;) 174 countries are ok to receive us.
I wonder what possible reasons there would be not granting visa's to our countries... probably something with politics?

You beat us:)....I guess the political situation is mainly the reasons!

I have a Dutch and a Swiss passport, does that make me #1 LMAO! I've never had any issues going anywhere with my passport, but then being near the top to that list explains a lot.

Haha, you can do anything:)....

Thanks for news!

Really you are lucky. Your passporr rank is #7 and can visit 173 countries. I am from bangladesh and our ranking is #97 & can access only 38 countries.

I recently read an article about the top 10 most powerful passports in the world ..
I think that Citizens of the Czech Republic can access 173 countries

I really agree with you and shear your views
