Great news for all outdoor enthusiasts: new direct trains from Prague to the Bohemian Paradise!

in #travel7 years ago

Hi everyone,

I am here with another great news that will surely please many tourists coming to my beautiful homeland, Czech Republic.

If you check my blog regularly, you have probably seen some of my posts dedicated to the Bohemian Paradise, a famous protected nature reserve found in the northern part of the country.

Known for its fascinating landscape full of natural beauties of all kinds (most notably unique sandstone formations), the reserve is considered one of the most beautiful places in the country, attracting crowds of tourists, hikers, climbers, cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts every year.

In the past, visitors usually used cars to get to the Bohemian Paradise as local train connections were not very convenient. However, this will probably change soon since the Czech Railways, the main railway operator of the country, has just launched a new direct line connecting the Bohemian Paradise with Prague, the capital city.

The train passes through some of the most important towns of the area such as Jicin and Turnov so the passengers can choose where they want to get off and start their unforgettable hike. The ride from Prague to Turnov takes less than 2 hours and the basic fare is about 100 CZK (4 EUR / 5 USD).

Please feel free to check out some of my other recent posts.

Series of artworks by famous Czech painter was the world´s third most visited exhibition last year!

Great palce!
I did not know that there is such a place in the Czech Republic. I'll have to go there next time. Especially since the photos are already coming to an end)

Oh, I would love to see our pics from that place. I hope you can make it happen:)...

Wow

Wish i had the time right now.

But soon, when i get the time to travel i want to visit Czech, Romania, Belgium, Spain and now also this place !

Glad to hear that. I hope you make all your plans and dreams come to reality. Tomas

Wow beautiful. How far is this from Prague please if you take another route say by car? I am going to Europe this summer and am looking hard at an itinerary. It will be western or central Europe. I want to see some memorable places. So is train the best way to go? we will be driving I think.

It takes probably the same amount of time... Using car will be way more convenient if you are planning trips outside Prague. However, in Prague the public transportation will be a better choice since it is fast, cheap and convenient. Car parking is a pain in Prague and can cost you a fortune.

I wish the direct connection had been in place before! I visited the Bohemian Paradise with my girlfriend in August 2016 and we walked from Turnov.

First we walked on the side of a busy road to get to the Bohemian Paradise (girlfriend hated that).

Then we walked for kilometers in the beautiful Bohemian Paradise (some was uphill, which she hated again).

Then we got lost, got off the trail and sprinted down some hills (That was quite fun). We had to walk through private property to get off the hill.

Then we walked for many more kilometers to get back to the train. Our feet were killing us and we needed to hurry to catch the return train.

We missed the return train and had to wait a couple of hours (By this point I'm in trouble wit her).

Finally caught a train back to Prague and walked some more to get back to our hotel. I don't think my feet have ever hurt so much before or since!

A direct train would have been very convenient but would have also detracted from the overall experience.

Thank you so much for your little story. I am sure you will both remember that trip with a smile on your faces many many years down the road. Have a great day. Tomas
