Travel Tip: Divoka Sarka, one of Prague´s secret natural getaways

in #travel7 years ago

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, I would like to take you to one of the most beautiful natural places in Prague, the nature reserve of Divoka Sarka.

Located in the northwestern outskirt of Prague, Divoka Sarka is named after Sarka, the legendary Czech female warrior and the leader of the woman´s army in the Maiden´s Wars. The legend has it that the warrior threw herself to her death from cliffs found in the reserve after betraying her lover Ctirad during the wars.

Whether the legend is true or not, Divoka Sarka is one of the most beautiful natural getaways in Prague, frequented by local outdoor enthusiasts.

Despite being relatively small in terms of area, the reserve offers numerous interesting landmarks and features ranging from majestic rocks and cliffs to mysterious caves and historic homesteads.

There is also a little lake in the reserve known as Dzban that serves as a popular spot for wild swimming and another, man-made swimming pool fed by clean, fresh springs of the reserve. There is an entrance fee to both of these pools but it is much lower compared to swimming pools in the city and they are also a way less crowded.

Another thing that makes Divoka Sarka so popular among the residents of Prague is the fact that there are several great hiking trails and many look-out spots with stunning views of local beautiful surroundings. Would you say this serene place is located just a few kilometers from the bustling center of the Czech capital?
