Evidence Of The Fierce Wave Of Tsunami In Aceh
Today I went to a place not far from my area of residence i.e. Floating DIESEL POWER. A silent witness will fierce the raging Tsunami of Dec 26, 2004. Monument to be a warning for anyone against the fierce forces of nature.
Monument of DIESEL POWER (Diesel power plant) Floating in the village of Punge Blangcut, Banda Aceh, became one of the proof of the greatness of God.
LOCATION
Punge Blang Cut, Jaya Baru, Kota Banda Aceh, Aceh 23116, Sumatra.
The ship with a length of 63 meters is able to produce power of 10.5 megawatts. With extensive reach 1,900 square metres and weighs 2,600 tonnes, nobody imagined this ship can move up to the middle of the city of Banda Aceh. As the name implies, this ship is a source of electric power for the region of Ulee Lheue – place the ship was moored before the tsunami. When the tsunami occurred, the ship was dragged down a tidal wave of as high as 9 meters so it shifts to the heart of the city of Banda Aceh as far as 5 kilometers away. The ship crashing into the middle of the settlement of citizens, not far from the Tsunami. Of the 11 crew members and some residents who were on the boat when the tsunami happened, only one man survived..
Below are the names of the victims of the Tsunami in the capture on the monument of Floating DIESEL POWER.
In the switch to the Government
Currently, DIESEL POWER Floating on its own is already taken over by the Government of Aceh, thus a lot of remodeling done. One of them can be seen on the inside of the ship. Heavy equipment that was once as electrical components, already changed into a place filled with exhibition and peyuluhan about the Tsunami.
On the outside is also being planned, and the renovation of the stage for repeated repainting. But it is still not done, because the renovations will make the value of the history of Floating DIESEL POWER itself becomes lost.
