Travel Philippines #1: Beaches Near Manila | Island Hopping in Puerto Galera Philippines

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Exploring the beaches near Manila is one thing that most people in the city should try to do.. Getting out of the city to the beach even for a couple days is a great way to clear your mind.

Staying in the Puerto Galera is a good choice for a beach location that is not to far from Manila. In this chapter of our travel the Philippines we want to share the island hopping in Puerto Galera.

Since the first day we got here in White beach we had a bad weather. We checked online but the forecast changes everyday. We booked Island Hopping the day before because the weather looked like it was going to be nicer. In the morning we woke up and surprise the weather looks like rain. Then about 9am the clouds got darker and it started to rain hard. We canceled the island hopping tour since its not good to go when you are freezing from the cold winds and its not a good time to take a photographs.

We jacked around in the room watching some YouTube and editing videos. We decided to go for a late breakfast around 11AM. After we order at the restaurant the rain stops and the sun comes out. We had a second thoughts if we want island hopping or not. We decided to try it.

We call the tour agent to uncancel the island hopping and we will just take out the food that we ordered. After the last minute decisions we get our things and head to meet the guy who assist us. The island hopping cost 1500 for both without food. We try to negotiate the prices because now only a have half day but the negotiation failed :).

We take a ride to Sipoa where the boats leave for island hopping. It took 5 minutes and cost 50 pesos for one way ride. Better to know the details before heading out on a tour.

After 10 minutes of waiting we head out to our first destination which is about 30 minutes. On the way to the first stop you will see some small remote beautiful beaches and some resorts.

First was snorkeling and swimming. We enjoyed the water and the coral. The strong current and shallow water makes it more difficult to swim but the under water scenery is very beautiful. We saw a different kind of sea urchins with white and black color. After 30 minutes of snorkeling we head back for 15 minutes because its more difficult to fight the water current.

The next destination was near only took 10 minutes to get there. This is only exploring the small beach which is all we have to do is to walked the beach. We met a vendor that selling handmade products. I just don't know why she chooses this small beach area to sell. She tried to convince us but failed because we really don't know if we can use it or carry around while traveling in Philippines. Its nice to met this friendly lady.

After 30 minutes of exploring we head out to the next destination which is a small remote beach again. You can actually walked the beach for just 1 minute. You can also swim if you want. The water is nice and clear you can see the stones under but for some reason we didn't try to swim.

After seeing most of it we head to our last destination which is a beach again but bigger than the past beaches we went to. After 15 minutes we arrived to the beach but the rain starts before we can head to the restaurant. While waiting the rain stops we drink some coconut juice in the restaurant 50 pesos and the beer with ice is 70 pesos.

This shells are huge I am curious what it looks like and taste the flesh inside. I grow up and living in the ocean until elementary to high school but I never seen as big as shell as this.

After waiting for like half an hour to stop the rain we walked to the edge of the beach with lots of rocks. We realize that the rocks were walking is sticking each other like a cement on it. Its just weird. We saw some dead star fish and many broken corals that turns to sand. This beach is not good for swimming because of the seaweeds leaf and the water is a bit dirty than the other beaches we saw.

A little bit comparison of Palawan Island hopping and Puerto Galera. Palawan has a big beautiful beach and has different kinds of beaches that you are going to. More touristy than here in Puerto Galera.

Puerto Galera island hopping has four destinations only but small beaches and more like for locals.

We only have 3 hours of sunny sky but at least we made this island hopping.

I saw a little shell that makes me belly button is a bit crazy but cute.

Such a great place!

Thank you so much..

In November last year I had the opportunity to visit Manila. although only one week stay in manila, for me the philippines of a country that is quite advanced when compared with my country. Especially the one that makes me memorable is the young. Young people in the philippines have a tremendous passion for making a difference, and that also really inspires me.

but unfortunately I have not had time to enjoy the beauty of the beaches that exist in the philippines, especially in cebu.

hopefully on another occasion I can return to visit the philippines

warm greetings from Aceh-Indonesia.

I do recommend you to visit Palawan either El Nido or Coron. Palawan is the worlds beautiful beaches .. You can fly from Manila to Busuanga Coron then take a boat to El Nido.. Its definitely worth it.. :)

Awesome, keep enjoying yourself

thank you i always try to enjoy life :)

very good. The underwater shots are really good! i see ur upvotes are off to a good start, too. yay!

hahaha yes i was trying to do both videos and writing .. thank you

At least the lady selling on the tiny beach has no competition there! It does seem a strange place to sell, not sure how many tourists would even bring much money along to the beach... Thanks for this detailed write-up!
