What exactly are we ignorant about? Is it the fact that these animals are living things just like us? or the economic importance of these animals? What do we take these animals for?

The largest land mammal in Europe, known as the Bison, is always seen wallowing in the soil, this is just one of it's social behaviour. It has this look that will cut of your breath at first sight either for the sake of "fear" or "being amazed".
After it was deemed extinct in the wild on January 1927, the specie was later reintroduced through conservation efforts to countries such as Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland. It is known that this animal's existence was again threatened during the 19th and 20th centuries.

It will be sad if this specie of animal goes into extinction, we have lost a lot in the world of wildlife and we cannot afford to consider loosing more of it, no! not the Bison. They always appear peaceful, unconcerned and even lazy. Although they are also known to be able of attacking anytime and being very temperamental.

These animals last visited Germany 250 years ago as Germany has never recorded the existence of this animal on it's soil, but not until few months ago did the wild Bison decided to take a walk through the border of Poland, it entered into Germany and when a wild bison was spotted by the people in the community they gave a report to the local police.

Giving a report to the police was a good idea as it is best to notify the authority about the presence of such an animal and the right thing to do by the police is also give report to the conservation authorities who will prepare a documented report about the animal, but in this case, it was different.

I can only imagine why the police man had ever taught that the presence of this Bison was only but a threat to the people that lives in the community. He geared up himself equipped with his gun probably few rounds was still in it, So sad to know one of these rounds will take the Bison's life.

The Bison probably may have made it's way from Poland's Ujscie Warty National Park to Germany as these countries share a common border. Little did he know that he was going to meet it's end.

Now I am asking once again, What exactly are we ignorant about ? is it the fact that these animals are living things just like us ? or the economic importance of these animals ? or what do we take them for?

You pull out a gun and shoot an animal that has not posed any form of threat to you, not just an animal but the only one of it's kind in your country. This is so sad. The dead Bison is now being studied and will likely be eventually housed in a museum in the city of Potsdam. I can only hope that a Bison comes around again.
