Zion - Taylor Creek Hike - Utah Series

in #travel5 years ago

All photos taken by me with a Fujifilm Finepix A210 except where noted, with some Lightroom post processing.

This is a continuation of my little Utah series of posts. This is from a trip I did back in 2010. Here are links to the other posts in the series:

Woke up at the camping spot and headed the 20 some miles up I-15 to the Kolob Canyons entrance of Zion NP. We had decide to visit a little less crowded part of the park for this hike. Taylor Creek trail leads you on a 5 mile round trip hike to a double arch feature.

The first thing on the hike was this monolithic feature. The preceding three pics are different stages of the traverse around it.

A couple shots of the sheer cliff faces. I struggled with my little point and shoot Finepix to try and capture the grandeur.

I love this little ecosystem that has carved out an existence on a ledge of this cliff. I wonder if it has remained untouched by humans?

Two more shots of the canyon walls as we approach the double arch.

The first couple glimpses of the lower part of the double arch.

One last shot of me after the hike. We drove to the end of the Kolob Canyons Road for a short hike to this overlook of the Kolob Canyons area. Taken by my travel partner with a Nikon E4600.
