RE: 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #27 - the absolute winner takes 200 SBD!
Franz Josef Glacier
Or in native Māori language: Kā Roimata o Hine Hukatere. The glacier is about 12 km long and is really special because of location close to the coastline. As most glaciers they have patterns of advance and retreat. The Franz Josef Glacier advanced till 2008 but since then there is a massiv retreat. We were lucky in 2010 to walk up to the glacier and onto in. Nowadays you have to take a helicopter, fly up and on top of the glacier to have a chance to walk on it. Nevertheless it was a fantastic day at the glacier.
Amazing entry as always! Thank you so much! Tomas
