Trails: Pico da Pedra Branca - Rio de Janeiro/Brazil
Hi, steemians!
Although it is the highest point of Rio, at a height of 1025 m, Pico da Pedra Branca is not famous for its view. The formation - which is only larger than the Tijuca Peak because of a 3-meter-high rock on its summit - is surrounded by dense vegetation, making it difficult to see. However, from the top of the rock, it is possible to see part of the neighborhoods of Campo Grande, the Massif Gericinó-Mendanha, Baixada Fluminense, Vargem Grande, Recreio and Restinga da Marambaia. Along the trail, enjoy the Atlantic forest, natural lookouts, crystal clear rivers and waterfalls.
One of the points of interest of the trail is the Casa Amarela, built in the 1920s. The simple, colonial-style house is a testament to how small farmers lived in Jacarepaguá. In the century XX, with the creation of the Park, only the constructions below 100 m of altitude were maintained in the area and the paths for the disposal of the merchandise became the currently used trails in the Park.
