Visit to Kavala - Bit of a Hidden Gem - Northern Greece
Hey
We just returned from a beach family holiday to Thasos and stopped over in Kavala for the night before catching the ferry the next morning to the island. I was so pleasantly surprised by what a beautiful town it is. We definitely want to return there in the future for a few days more.
Town has a very relaxed, layed back vibe. There are tourists around, but it feels more local and Greek somehow. Much more so than other places round the Greek islands that are more famous. There you feel caught up in one big tourist trap. We definitely saw mostly locals and other Greeks coming to spend some time by the seaside other than the normal flood of package tours for a place so charmingly original.
Also btw...Had a fantastic fresh seafood meal just here at "Aniko"...Highly recommended at a very reasonable price:
Next I'll post about Thasos Island itself as I get my pics sorted.... :) (Spoilers: Its also a fantastic place)
