When you decide to go off the beaten path.

Lily and I decided to take a hike up Mount Santubong for the day and I'll never forget it. Firstly we took a nice cold swim in crystal clear mountain water right under a small waterfall, watched as a handful of rare frogs waved at each other using their hind legs, and then we took an amazing detour. I'll never forget it, all the reviews and locals said we wouldn't see any monkeys but there they were. My first sighting of wild monkeys and they were right above me swinging overhead and making loud screeches as they sped away from me. I decided the best course of action was to go off the path and follow them, which led us on for an extra hour without even spotting them again. While Lily was determined that I got us lost for good and we weren't ever going to make it home, we emerged from the jungle to be greeted by this amazing view. Detour well worth it.
