ARTWALK at Paulista Avenue ~ São Paulo

I'm in Brazil visiting my family and very excited to be able to attend the first "Steemit Meetup Brasil" happening this Friday, March 23th in São Paulo at Boteco Boa Praça, which is the first Bar/Restaurant in Brazil that accepts Bitcoin and Litecoin... Exciting!

While I'm here, I love to explore the city and live the "tourist life". This last Sunday, I visited one of my favorite places, Paulista Avenue… or only Paulista as we like to call it.

Paulista, inaugurated at the end of the 19th century, was once the home of great mansions of coffee barons. Today, little is left of that time and the streets are dominated by business skyscrapers, cultural spaces, shopping centers, parks and many bars and restaurants. In Paulista Avenue, life is fun and busy. No matter what time you try to traverse it, it will never be empty. You still run the risk of going through a major rally, a show or even a marathon. It is one of the safest spots in the city for sightseeing.

You can walk to Paulista from end to end. There is a good attraction in every block. The variety of cultural spaces impresses. There are many museums, theaters, cinemas, exhibition halls and large bookstores available to visitors. Start at the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), head to the Fiesp Cultural Center - Ruth Cardoso, Itaú Cultural and stop for a coffee at Casa das Rosas (one of the few remaining original houses). Win a few minutes leafing through books at the National Cultural Bookstore or at FNAC. Then, get a movie session at the Caixa Belas Artes or a presentation at Teatro Gazeta.

There're so much going on 24/7, but Sundays are special. They close the Avenue to the cars and it becomes a place where you can experiment every culture & art from Brazil. Vendors take over of the sidewalks, you see bands playing all kinds of styles of music, skaters, bikers, runners. It's a lot of fun and I want to share my experience with you Steemians…
