NomadCouple in the US: Houseboat Retreat in Seattle

in #travel7 years ago

Sometimes it's nice to go to a town where you know no one and can just explore and experience the city through your own lens. Other times it's great to know people and have connections. This was definitely one of those times. My good friend Jen had recently begun the property management of a sweet houseboat on Lake Union and she generously let us stay there during our time in Seattle. Given my propensity towards sea sickness I was a little nervous at first, but by day two I had my sea legs and things were smooth sailing.

The boat was awesome and we have a great vantage point for the Duck Dodge, the weekly boat "race" on Lake Union. Mostly it's a beer league race with hundred of sail boats and people dressed in costume and BBQing as they float around the lake. When we were there was Star Wars themed. Very cool!

Great post. I have only been to Seattle once and that was such a long long time ago. Beautiful city.

I lived in Seattle for 2 years and I agree, beautiful city :)

That looks pretty neat! How is it living on a houseboat?

It was great for a week. I don't think I have what it takes to commit to the houseboat lifestyle fully :) It's like living in a hotel--great for a bit, but a bit cramped.

Ah yes, I can imagine. However, I am sure it was a great experience for once!

Very nice content! Thank you for commenting on my post! I upvoted yours too :) Enjoy your life and I can't wait to see more of your sharing!

That actually looks quite spacious! Glad you liked the experience. Our friend keeps inviting us to his home in Seatle, but it is so far from where we currently live. Seems like a beautiful city.... well the harbor part at least. Have a great day
